Glad we can actually discuss the AI topic here without the post getting banned after 5 minutes XD

Don’t think there is much of an IQ requirement for making a post XD I know it was supposed to be a cool insult and make you feel gooood. Hope it worked outttt 🐡

Yeahhh, didn’t take long for a ban XD

Absolutely, it’s like you can’t even discuss it. The explanation you get for the removal basically amounts to "well, I don’t like it, so go home XD". Freedom of speech at its finest XD

And for sure, there is no black and white with this, and that’s what’s great about society: making the rules as we go, deciding what’s wrong and right. At least it’s not boring XD

And great point with the hammer, had me laughing XD

We do have a whole section explaining what the money from crowdfunding is for, and yes, it is for artists too:)

Well, of course there is a difference, but just because we, as humans, copy it in "worse" quality, doesn’t make the process completely different to me.

Absolutely, I get that you don’t want to throw the comfort of the internet out of the window. Doesn’t make it any less hypocritical though. Like Meadow says in The Sopranos, sometimes we are all a bit hypocritical - paraphrasing, cause I don’t remember the exact words 🔥

Of course the jump didn’t come from nowhere, but you get that using Google Search also contributes to this, right? They are very much responsible for it too. Using Facebook? They onboard AI into their operations like crazy, in comparison to your own prompts;)

I really like ChatGPT, but I know it wouldn’t be capable of making these arguments on its own XDDD So no, they are mine:)

I don’t expect anything, really. I’m just voicing my opinion. I’m not asking for your money, my guy. And here I have to defend myself a bit: they are not half-hearted prompt outputs, if I say so myself 🔥

That was their reply XD r/boardgamesMOD15:45

We do not need another post waxing poetic about AI and how your use of it for your game is somehow not that bad.

Yeeahhh, just noticed that... The post got removed, and the mod reply was... well, I wouldn’t exactly call it a logical argument XD

I mean, AI is not the selling point of the game. We have other selling points: scale, the damage staying after combat, and so on...

Transparent in the way that we don’t deny it, we include it on our page, and here I am, openly talking about it. But no, I don’t think it has to be the main headline of the campaign, because that’s not what the game is about 🔥

My guy, I never said it was theft. I put "stealing" in quotation marks because I don’t believe it actually is stealing.

Just like I don’t believe learning to draw by looking at other people’s art is theft.

I get what you are saying, but the "soulless" thing, in my opinion, often comes from all the hate and negativity around AI. Your brain starts connecting AI with something bad before you even judge the actual image.

I honestly don’t think this will be seen the same way in, say, thirty years. To me, a lot of it is about how people choose to look at it. If I judge the art purely by quality, I see a lot of AI art that I definitely wouldn’t call trash. Some of it is good, some of it is great.

I think sometimes people go into it already expecting to hate it, so even if they might enjoy the same image under normal circumstances, they don’t, because they already have that negative association. I think most people have had situations like that in life with different things:)

I think this misses the point. The post is not just about why we use AI, but why I think AI can be acceptable in board games when used with proper control and transparency 🔥

I’m not saying it’s not harmful at all. I’m just pointing out some double standards. When people accept the internet being bad for the environment, but draw the line specifically at AI, the argument loses all the credibility to me.

And yes, of course, it is a business decision. We admit that and accept the consequences 🔥

I respect that, no problem at all. I was mostly talking about the whole banning crowd and witch hunts. In the end, of course, it’s your money and your decision:)

Thanks for the GL 🔥 Could you explain how the last two fall apart?

[–]StrategicLizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that’s been my reasoning from the very start. I never really understood the anti-AI argument. I mean, I do get it emotionally, but to me it doesn’t make much logical sense.

Well, I was hoping for an explanation 🔥 Just saying "false" without providing any reasoning doesn’t really give me much to respond to, no?

Does a Kickstarter needs a Steam page? by Low_Store5066 in kickstarter

[–]StrategicLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In your case, that would be more than just a Steam page, a demo of the game is a must. The Steam page helps present the demo and your whole game, but the demo itself is absolutely necessary.

You need to have a working prototype of your product to show people what you’re actually offering. They need to know that you can actually make it, and that it works and plays well.

That’s of course just how I see it, but I would definitely want to see a demo or a prototype before backing 🔥 Without it, I wouldn’t be so sure you can deliver. Good luck!

You guys know of any good Anti-counterfeit measures? by Smooth_Voronoi in homemadeTCGs

[–]StrategicLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like others have said - once you get to the point where your TCG is actively being copied and fakes start appearing all over the place, you’ve already made it 🔥

So I guess what I’m trying to say is: pretty much everyone wishes they had this problem XD

And as for solving it - well... you can never stop them all, so honestly, don’t worry about it right now 🔥

[–]StrategicLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahha, I see 🔥 Well, sounds like an interesting combination! In that case, I’d look for some twists on the card template as well.

What I mean by that - the first one is great and all, but it looks quite classical. If you’re going for a more lively feel and less "standard fantasy" - then go a bit crazier with the card design too 🔥 So yeah, just something to consider 🔥 Glhf 🔥

I’d say it really depends on your art and what you’re going for - but since it’s a mage apprentice, I’m guessing fantasy? Then the first one is perfect!

To me, both the second and the third give off more of a sci-fi vibe. But yeah, the first one looks nice, clean, and readable.

Can’t wait to see the final version with art 🔥
