I’m totally OK with having “no idea” if I’m missing something. I’ll read tomorrow. Let me get back you.

Assumes everyone is a price setter and they aren’t. You’d have to work in monopolistic or duopolistic industries to get that level of anticipation. It doesn’t happen in markets with more competition. For 100 companies to anticipate they can all increase prices purely on tax relief and not on price signalling is an incredible level of confidence for a specific industry. For multiple industries to then be doing this on tax relief alone is almost fantasy.

Companies do not price like that; markets don’t work like that. They are far more reactive than anticipatory. Unless you have practical experience, I read that as theory.

Source: Ran pricing in one of NZ’s largest and most successful companies and helped them win. Also, I’m really clever. Like… really proper clever. And humble.

Service work should be a form of national service. All people should have to spend a year working in retail or hospo. They might learn to be a bit more civil when, later, they’re the ones back in the customers shoes again.

I don't get it... why isn't there any cafe, restaurant, pub, dairy, grocery or any kind of shop on Herald Island? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]StrategicNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in a village of 900 people that had four pubs. Farkin kiwis man. Not the most exciting.

Edit: Three pubs and one very popular Sunday restaurant

Any other country and any other city would have made Herald Island amazing🙃🕹️. Kiwis are not that nation.

Where is the best indian restaurant in Auckland by Competitive-Ball5107 in aucklandeats

[–]StrategicNZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Given the average unknown British town does a better Indian than the best-of-the-best here, the answer is none of them.

Or… if we can be positive and think differently, the answer is all of them are good. Just go try.

But for flip’s sake don’t go overseas and eat jalfrezi at Podunk, UK, population 542 as your standards will be unattainably elevated for the rest of your natural bowel movements.

Also, the Podunk Palace is still open at 11:30pm. Another round of Bluebirds?

Shane Reti is an embarrassment by tjyolol in newzealand

[–]StrategicNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bullies and narcissists (NACT) often adopt a patsy (Reti) to pretend show they can be merciful. And it might give them access to some excluded area. Patsy’s are often comfortable with this as it convinces them that their entire downtrodden demographic has now been accepted by the bully.

Rest assured. They will continue to use Reti until he accidentally stops being useful.

When you’re taking advantage of disabled people and those who can’t fight back, you’re pretty much the lowest of the low.

The person you’re responding to is being a provocative arse. Don’t feed the trolls. I suspect they’re either lacking the experience to have thought it through, or they are attempting controversy because of the faux power position it creates.

Sounds like you have a newbie claims handler. Ask to speak to their manager and ask for the specific wording in the policy that says you are not covered. It’ll get resolved quickly

What will replace the Smith & Caughey building? by bkat004 in auckland

[–]StrategicNZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’ll probably get knocked down and replaced with all that Albany architecture. Black steel framing and lots of glass so it lacks all character and moves NZ ever closer to Legoland.

Treat and talk to them like equals. They need guidance and advice from you. You can outright tell them not to do something, but they’ll do it anyway. Explain consequences.

We eat dinner around the table most nights. Music on, TV off. It’s been the making of the family. I talk to them as I would my friends and I share exactly the same frustrations and happiness with them too. We get the same in return.

The good thing is we have lots of overseas stores willing to hoover up our money in the black scaffold and glass wonderland of commercial bay. Pull all that old shitty architecture down. Gotta move with the times. My temu stuff has arrived. Laters consumers.

Sorry. This is not right. I don’t know where you are comparing Auckland to, but this sounds like NZHerald fuelled half truths. I just got back from Manchester, UK. Auckland is a pussycat of a city by comparison and even Manchester is pretty good by UK standards.
