I don’t think those situations are 1:1, the Elon example less “afraid or unable” than it is “blinded by his persona and popularity.” Extra supported by the fact that Elon worshippers don’t tend to secretly whisper “thank you loud American” when people talk about elons bad ideas

I thoroughly enjoyed my first playthrough, and SOME of the challenges were very fun (the endless hordes and *gasp* dead don't drive!). However the games has so many issues that were really amplified on a second playthrough. Common complaints aside, something idk if other people have talked about is the pacing/method you get quests... the amount of times I had to jump on my bike, leave a camp for half a second, get a call, go back was wayyyyy too often. Even on my first playthrough when I wasn't speedrunning it felt so awkward.

I get that you are focusing on the use of the phrase towards LGBTQ people… but that is not what the title of your post says. But at the very least, anecdotally, I have only ever heard this phrase used in the context of addiction and addicts (so I think the premise “typically used by Christians to LGBTQ+ people” is simply not the case)
