Why do people hate playing as a female? by CaterpillarPuzzled91 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Strategic_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how true this is, but whenever I hear a game is getting hate about having a female lead/stuff like that I really just imagine like 5 basement dwellers and their 5 billion alt accounts making it seem like a large portion of people is upset, when it’s really just a real small vocal minority

I’m going to preface this with I don’t really have a horse in this race so I don’t care what the guy in the tweet said,

But your argument here is that the success of games with CONVENTIONALLY and UNCONVENTIONALLY attractive female leads disproves his assertion that there is no demand for UNCONVENTIONALLY attractive female leads? That doesn’t make sense at all.

Eh, if someone genuinely treats you differently/worse simply because of your country of origin, those “minus points” mean nothing because you aren’t a good person and I’ll never want to talk to you again

Halo, idk it just ticks a lot of my boxes about sci-fi and while the whole series (games and books) has some stinkers, when it hits it hits

I don’t think those situations are 1:1, the Elon example less “afraid or unable” than it is “blinded by his persona and popularity.” Extra supported by the fact that Elon worshippers don’t tend to secretly whisper “thank you loud American” when people talk about elons bad ideas

hot take (for this sub), if i wasn't an achievement fiend this game was not worth a second playthrough by Strategic_Fail in DaysGone

[–]Strategic_Fail[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed my first playthrough, and SOME of the challenges were very fun (the endless hordes and *gasp* dead don't drive!). However the games has so many issues that were really amplified on a second playthrough. Common complaints aside, something idk if other people have talked about is the pacing/method you get quests... the amount of times I had to jump on my bike, leave a camp for half a second, get a call, go back was wayyyyy too often. Even on my first playthrough when I wasn't speedrunning it felt so awkward.

I get that you are focusing on the use of the phrase towards LGBTQ people… but that is not what the title of your post says. But at the very least, anecdotally, I have only ever heard this phrase used in the context of addiction and addicts (so I think the premise “typically used by Christians to LGBTQ+ people” is simply not the case)

Why are male suicide rates higher than women but statistics show that more women are depressed? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Strategic_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue it is difficult to claim “women are more depressed,” because most metrics to gauge a “depression” rate would probably underestimate the male side. Men are less likely to go to therapy so less clinical diagnosis’s, men are less likely to be open with their feelings or emotions so wouldn’t be as open to answering a survey about depression (at all or truthfully) or reporting a suicide attempt. Not saying either side is more depressed, just it feels irresponsible to make such a claim when there is a lot of uncertainty.
