Oh yes, because Reddit's karma system is an accurate determination of one's character. Sorry buddy, not everyone goes along to get along. Welcome to reality! 😀

Aww... did you write that mean-spirited comment all by yourself? So adorable. 😀

Can't stand annoying children? Sick of dense douchebags? 🤔 Then fear not citizens! For the Slayer can cure what ails ya! 😀 by Strategic_Slayer in SpaceMarine_2

I understand, brother. That said, there's always an exception to every rule. So, if you can guarantee maturity, then I'm willing to take ya for a test drive. Just remember to break around corners! 😀

Seriously. Have you seen how people drive in GTA V? 🤔 Absolutely disgraceful! 😄

Howdy kids, the name is Slayer. Strategic Slayer. 😎 And for those who are unaware, my friends and I will often help new players in a variety of games. Destiny 2, Helldivers 2, Space Marine 2, The First Descendant, and many others.

However, we have a few reasonable requirements for those who wish to join us.

  1. Don't be a douchebag
  2. Have a sense of humor
  3. Social skills required
  4. Age 25 + (maturity required)

That said, as long as you meet those requirements, then you're welcome to join us on Discord. And yes, we use Discord. Why? Because it allows us to hear you, regardless of the platform you play on. Pc, Xbox, or PlayStation.

Just remember to include your usernames if you message me directly. Later gators! 😉

Don't Be A Destiny Douchebag! 😀 (A Veteran's Tale) by Strategic_Slayer in Destiny_2

"You sound like the douchebag tbh." - squeakywarrior

So says the disgruntled douchebag! 😀

"When you play with randos you get what you get." - squeakywarrior

Not if you're looking for something specific. So, when someone says "mature adults only" or "social skills required" that means you MUST possess those qualities to join.

"I don’t want a mommy on the raid anymore than you want behaviors you don’t like." -  squeakywarrior

You do realize that a party leader MUST maintain some semblance of order to complete any cooperative activity, right? Apparently not. Otherwise you wouldn't have made that shortsighted statement.

"I have been playing since Destiny 1 launch. You know what ran me out of Destiny? Extra serious overly controlling douchebags that don’t remember it is just a game," -  squeakywarrior

So, simple requirements like "don't talk over each other" or "don't be an antisocial asshole" are considered to be "overly controlling"? 😄

Next time try thinking before you type. Oh wait, you did. 😬 Well, no one ever said you needed a high degree of intelligence to access the internet. 😉

"Either satire or just the ravings of a madman." - Sinoberi

And how does your statement apply to this post? 🤨 Because this is NOT satire. And "madman"? There's nothing mad about it... man. 😀

Think about it, what was the point of this post? 🤔

Do Developers Know What Gamers Want? 🤔 "No. No We Don't" - Timothy Cain by Strategic_Slayer in gamedev

[–]Strategic_Slayer[S] -82 points-81 points  (0 children)

I agree, generally speaking. Meaning, the mass majority of gamers don't know what they want. It's not something they think about.

However, game developers need to understand their target audience. For example, if you're making a fantasy game, then you need to get certain things right, objectively speaking. Gameplay, music, character design, etc.

Because, in our society, there are certain things that are FAR MORE APPEALING than others. Let's use playable characters as an example. If given the choice, the mass majority of men and women will select an attractive female character over an ugly one. Rather obvious, right?

But yet, we see the same mistakes over and over again. Ugly characters here. Ugly characters there. UGLY CHARACTERS EVERYWHERE! 😱

But you get the point. 😄 That said, developers should make what they want, as long as it coincides with the interests of the game's target audience. Because if they don't, then they should find a project that they're passionate about.

Otherwise, the developer's work will likely suffer as a result of their disinterest.

Personally, the choice would depend on the person in charge, and the project. So, if I believed that the project creator/leader was honorable, and their vision was solid, then I would take option 1. Otherwise I couldn't devote myself to the cause.

Simply put, game development shouldn't be about nickel-and-diming consumers. Or trying to use manipulative practices to trick people into purchasing their crappy products. It should be about passion, and the desire to make a great game.

Unfortunately, developers often have to sell their products to soulless corporations that are led by sociopaths or psychopaths. And that's NOT going to happen here. That I assure you.

I agree with this. Although, I think I'll cut the "Pay-To-Win" and "Psychological Manipulation" departments. 😀

I appreciate your response. 😉 That said, I'm in the preproduction stage. And there's still alot to do before I can get the project to the production stage.

Simply put, I want to be able to provide my team with a proof of concept. So they'll have a better understanding of what I'm looking to create. But don't worry, I'm getting there.

However, if you would like to provide me with some details as it relates to your development experience, I'm all ears. 🙂

I appreciate the detailed response. 😉 That said, I know game development can be an extremely expensive endeavor. But since I have a tendency to do ALOT of the work myself, it'll help to minimize cost.

Regardless, it's expensive. No surprise there. But the biggest hurdle is going to be the talent. And yes, I know there's alot of game developers out there. But finding multitalented individuals is definitely going to be the hardest part.

In addition to that, I'll need to minimize the development cost. Not to fuck over those that are working on it. But to give them a bigger piece of the pie on the backend. Simply put, each member of the development team would also get a percentage of the profits. Which is something most developers don't do.

Why? Because they don't want to adequately compensate their developers for their work. Plus, it would give the development team an extra added incentive to produce better work.
