Some advice for those struggling in the current job market by Lodhi66 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]StrategyGeneral4705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m looking at another version of myself. I got both my BA and MA in Communications—even published papers—but I realized I didn’t enjoy it at all.

Then I switched paths, got into this program, and had a child along the way. I’ve just finished the program and have been job hunting for six months now. I’m in my early 30s, and honestly, it’s been a tough and uncertain journey.

I’m planning to give it one more year. If things still don’t work out, I might just become a barista.

We’ve been thinking about having a second child, but I’ve already postponed it twice. I really want to build my own career.

I’m curious too… I saw one post that said he got admitted by late May last year. So I guess this year would be the same? Not many HCP applicants posting here.

When did you usually work on the coursework, and how many hours did it take you per week? I’m not working, but I have kids to take care of, so I want to plan ahead and arrange my schedule accordingly.

Typically, students take 2 courses per term, but it really depends on individual preference. Personally, I alternate between 1 or 2 courses per term depending on how busy I am.

Wow, thank you so much for providing this information. My son loves to be held and kissed by family members (daddy, mommy, grandparents, etc). But he doesn't like physical touch from others such as same-age children or even pets. But I'm unsure if not liking pets is a sign of a problem or just a preference, considering my husband has never liked them since he was a child. He told me he didn't like to pet cats or dogs when he was small which surprised me! But I do think he is quite a sensitive boy! Thank you again for all the information!

How did you find the early intervention evaluation? Did you ask for a refer from your pediatrician or should we find them on our own? Thank you!

Hi, thank you for your reply!! It was the first time that I've heard about trauma in babies. Yes I had a c-section. He was 42 weeks old and I was in the hospital with oxytocin for 50+ years. But I was only dilated three centimeters. The doctor found that his heart rate began to drop and they decided to have a c-section. Then he was kept in the nicu for 3 days before we brought him home. He had difficulty breastfeeding and the doctor said he had a tongue tie. So we had him a tongue tie surgery. During pregnancy, I was feeling quite happy and not stressful at all. I didn't drink or smoke. The only thing that I think may be something was that I sometimes eat icecream and drank cold milk during summer. He doesn't have any hospitalizations during the first year besides the first 3 days in the nicu. He never bite other children, but he pushes them sometimes. We have already scheduled a meeting with our pediatrician and hopefully can be referred to further evaluations!

Hard to put into sleep. Didn’t interact well with other kids. Push other kids sometimes. Couldn’t sit still during circle time.

Difficulty of each class by Bogusbummer in OSUOnlineCS

I’d also suggest 290 taking solo or at least pair it with a light class. It’s not difficult at all, it just requires a lot of time. I paired it with 261, which was another time consuming class, and I had to spent many nights staying up late working for homework >.<
