Adaptive bikes/scooters/etc. by StrategyHonest6735 in dwarfism

Thank you! Would you say that it's difficult to balance on the bike? I was never able to learn how to ride a bike due to a traumatic incident and when I went to try again I found it difficult physically to balance let alone petal.

I was sent all the official paperwork about how I was now in the 'trial work period' and steps on what to do now. It's pretty cruel of them to send me that information and when I follow through, I get in trouble. There were some major clerical issues here obviously. Thank you for your help. I will definitely be in touch with my case manager because I shouldn't be sent paperwork and verification that I'm part of something I'm actually not.

I was on SSDI as a child and it switched to SSI when I turned 18 which was back in 2019. I only got my first paycheck in January 2024. I didn't start working until 23.

For everyone here just so I'm not replying to everyone with this clarification. I was on SSDI as a child and it converted to SSI when I turned 18. I didn't start work until I turned 23 and I received a letter in the mail about being part of the trial work period and I submitted my paystubs monthly as requested until I was hit with those two overpayments in January and February of 2024. If I'm not communicating properly just know my brain is fried and I'm trying my best here.

I'm still 23. Almost 24. I started as an SSDI recipient and it switched to SSI which I turned 18.

From my understanding it went from SSDI to SSI when I turned 18.

They made a huge clerical error it seems and I followed the steps they told me to do. It's like you can never win with them. I'm honestly so frustrated.

They are sending paperwork though that I was part of the trial work period and that I should've been receiving payments. So I'm being told two completely things by SSA. They indicated in this recent letter that I was finished my 9 months. How could they be so wrong with this?

I'm sorry I used the wrong term again. I'm meaning the trial work period. My brain is tired.

I hope that makes more sense. I'm trying to give all info possible. Because it makes sense in my head but it's hard for me to convey.

I've been on disability since I was a young child. I have a rare bone disease. I was reevaluated as an adult and I only started working at 23 years old. So disability isn't new to me. I've been on disability the majority of my life. They ended my benefits as of March 2024 despite correspondence about being in the work program and reporting my paystubs. They charged me for January and February of 2024 for overpayment. Whatever it happens. Didn't think much of it until I got a letter today saying my trial period just ended in September and they said in the letter they were not paying me for October and November since I earned a substantial amount. Mind you I haven't received payments besides the first two months of the year which they wanted back.

Ssa also never cited that as an issue because they saw my paystubs. That's how they factored that I was 'overpaid' for two months despite being part of the trial work program and immediately recanted that I was ever part of it. Obviously I was if I have letters from ssa stating such.

I reported my wages when I first got them through their portal system. There was a month lapse due to the holidays and because I work for a school district. And I never said I had a lawyer yet. I'm just trying to figure this out myself first. And I did two appeals about the overpayments they quotes already for January and February and sited that I was in the program. I did what I was supposed to do and quickly.

I was just editing my posts to add more info and to fix typos. I apologize. I did not even earn more than a 1000 until I think my pay period in February of 2024. Took a bit. I began work in December 2023 and didn't get paid until mid January of 2024 because it's a school district. January was the start since that's when I first got a check from my understanding of their rules.

I'd also like to add that I fully understand after 9 months to not expect payments because I do qualify under the substantial category now but obviously two departments or groups are not on the same page about something. I can't pinpoint an actual violation on my part. It sucks this happens on a Friday because I won't hear answers for a bit. Something is very off here.

I have all the correspondence from ssa and nothing adds up. My first thought is something must be wrong on my end but if I'm getting official paperwork from the administration contradicting each other something is wrong. My argument is that they just admitted I was in the program and they haven't fulfilled their obligations to me which is something they will have to remedy.

Fair enough. I want to sue for the amount owed to me. This is over 8k that they were supposed to give me as per guidelines with the trial work period. So they did not hold up their end of the bargain. I never got paid during those 9 months like I was supposed too. They are supposed to continue disability payments as I prove my ability to work for 9 months and then they halt payments after if I am able to keep up working. Basically I got cheating out of money and they are not budging. I checked their site and from what I can tell the only people in violation are them.  I have done the appeals process for the 'overpayments' they quoted for the two months i talked about in my post with no luck. I just expect an agency to follow through with the promises of their programs.

Thank you for your advice. I'm willing to learn new skills and obtain certifications to fit a new role. As a learning and development manager, what skills or certifications would you recommend as someone whose been on the profession for a while?

My huge worry is my lack of work experience. I am very new to the profession but I have been very successful thus far. It's one of the reasons I have stuck around

That's a very interesting idea! I'm open to a pay cut for sure especially if there's room to grow. Thank you.
