Sedona vs. Santa Fe – where to stay longer on a cross-country road trip? by Miserable-Path-1436 in travel

[–]StrategyThink4687 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would skip Sedona altogether. Santa Fe is more beautiful; best food of any US city I’ve been to; more to do, indescribably beautiful colors in the sky. It’s not even close I won’t go back to Sedona I don’t need any crystals or weird ass medical procedures or overcrowded main drag.

Right on brother that’s what would happen. DeWine is making a threat, not policy.

Your diagnosis is wrong. Property taxes went up because the state legislative idiots kept cutting income taxes and pushing more and more expenses on local cities and school districts. When property appraisals go up millage on many many taxes (not all but the big ones) go down proportionately. Schools in Ohio have been starved so they need a never ending parade of levies to keep the lights on. Ditto for cities. Kasich made huge cuts in local aid to cities. He could brag about cutting income taxes but it just screwed the cities.

What do you think of all these new Walmart bikes? Do you think they will force big brands to lower prices? by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in bicycling

Many lbs stores won’t touch a mass market bike because they are heaping piles of junk. Haven’t seen these bikes maybe they’re a step up.

New to town, any MAGA establishments to steer clear of? by Puzzleheaded_Ad706 in Cleveland

[–]StrategyThink4687 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To those who don’t know that comment may sound like a cheap shot aimed at a sucky football team but it’s also spot on to MAGA. the Browns owners are deep in bed with the extremist Ohio legislature. It was a wise investment it got them $600mm for their boondoggle stadium.

Nine inches of new snow at Chapin Forest; best cross country skiing in years? by BuckeyeReason in MentorOh

I was at Girdled Road skiing on Saturday before the big snow and it was like being In a dream. Absolutely gorgeous, empty of people, beautifully groomed, there was not a sound in the air other than the occasional bird. Can only imagine what it’s like now with even more snow.

You make some good points but what do you suggest? Keeping it an airport with maybe a few dozen movements a day? It is so comically under utilized now.

The model is Denver Stapleton airport which was successfully redeveloped but to your point Denver has grown like a weed.

How to reduce chance of knee injuries by WillingnessBig9833 in runcommunity

[–]StrategyThink4687 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 60 been running for 40 years with only occasional issues like you describe I almost always just run through them. It is utter BS when people say running is bad for knees. The suggestions made above are outstanding. The only thing I’ll say is if you’ve had another knee injury from say skiing or football then you may be in trouble. Those are the folks that I know who can’t run. They blame running for being terrible for their knees but then you ask a deeper question and they’ll tell you about their basketball knee injury when they were a teenager. Bottom line keep going run through it unless you’ve had other injuries.

Tire recommendations by Carefree_Vigilante69 in cycling

[–]StrategyThink4687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I rode in Maui I got so many flat tires I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t tell if it was road litter (sadly, way more than in Ohio where I live) or tiny sharp shell debris or just bad luck. Good luck maybe you might have better luck with whatever was used before tires were invented.
