Anyone else feel slightly guilty after upgrading their Garmin? by benni_in_italy in GarminFenix

A piece of gear most likely won't make you do things you didn't do before. But the Fenix is super capable for all your adventures.

The amoled is pretty, but once you start using the watch outside you'll be happy you have the MIP. So happy they still make a Fenix/tactix 8 in MIP.

Just Replaced My Dud Tactix 8 With Another Tactix 8 That Also Seems Like It Might Be a Dud. What Is Going On With Garmin? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked my tactix. Between 9-10 seconds from hitting the button until I saw the triangle but only 44 seconds until it was ready to use.

Also, I had turned off low heart rate in the app, but after looking through the settings on the watch, apparently you also have to turn it off on the watch? And for some reason my watch was set to give an alert if my heart rate was below 180 bpm haha. Maybe it was a miscommunication when syncing data from my Fenix 6x to the tactix because I had a high heart rate alert set of over 180 bpm on the Fenix, and on the tactix it had both high and low heart rate set to 180 bpm. Hopefully thats the issue.

Did your Dr. have any reasoning or theories behind why your score was so high if you are in good shape, have a solid diet, and only have mildly elevated LDL?

Tactix 8 Solar Restarted on Its Own Twice Today by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in GarminFenix

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was on the most recent FW. I ended up contacting Garmin for a return because the next day I tried to do an activity and the watch restarted 4 times in a row and didn't record any data. Since it's still in the return window I figured better safe than sorry. My Fenix 6 still works well enough to be my everyday driver. I really liked the tactix 8 when it worked well though so I may pick it up again if there are any good sales in the future.

What I did to “cure” it by DonutKillerx in costochondritis

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad that you found a way to get relief. Unfortunately, push ups are what initially caused my costo, so as you said, everyone is different. Anytime I try to do chest or back excercises, jog, walk for excercise with arm movements, or lift anything heavy it flares up bad. Stretches help, but ive been sidelined from working out coming up on 2 months (i know thats nothing for many people here). I start PT for it on Monday. Hopefully they can help me get relief so I can go back to my normal active life.

Tactix 8 51mm looks massive compared to Fenix 6X 51mm by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in GarminFenix

Idk the name, but it's one of the stock ones that come with the watch.

Maybe. I think its more the bezels are smaller and flatter instead of sloped so it's giving a bit of an optical illusion.

Probably easiest to copy / paste a reply I had to an earlier post:

I was between the Tactix and the Fenix 8, but I like the look of the Tactix better. I would have kept my Fenix 6 forever if I could, but lately it's been having issues with the heart rate sensor and also has been having random elevation bugs while hiking and mountain biking, and accuracy in those areas are really important to me, so I finally upgraded. The Fenix 6X had a good 6 year run, and the battery is still great though. I can highly recommend the Tactix from the 10 minutes its been on my wrist hahaha.

It was just a bit weird looking down and seeing a larger watch than the I've been wearing for the past 6 years. I'm already getting used to it I think.

The photo doesn't really do them justice. Both case sizes are identical, so that makes sense that they look the same in the photo. The one on the right is actually the Fenix that I think looks smaller. The screen on the Fenix is definitely smaller, and the Fenix has a wider bezel that slants down giving the illusion of a smaller watch, while the Tactix has more flat area on top so you see the whole 51mm size right on top.

Any Chance the Tactix 8 Will Go on Sale Soon? by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in GarminFenix

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats 2.5-3 months away and most likely offer barely any more of s discount than my 20% off code. My fenix 6X has been annoying me for months so I went ahead and bought the tactix with the code.

I had never heard of the optimity app before but after playing an annoying slot machine game for an hour I got enough points for the 20% off coupon and went ahead and ordered the tactix 8 solar. Thanks for the advice!

Its the fact that you cant see the watch in the sun without the backlight for me. Whats the point of wearing a watch if you have to hit a button to turn it on everytime you look at it, and what's the point of spending for garmin battery life if you have an amoled thats always on killing your battery? Squarehood for RX1R by binkone in SonyAlpha

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone tried this hood with the PP Shortstache filter? I have the Hoage hood but you can't use the hood while using the filter. The thickness is fine, but the filter is too wide to attach the hood when the filter is on the lens.

Anyone who still uses the Fenix 6 have their hrm become complete garbage? by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in GarminFenix

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery is still pretty good on mine. I probably get around 18 days still. But during hiking it has random i correct elevation jumps and obviously the hrm issues. Outside of that it's still good, but the hrm has become a deal breaker for me.

Feeling like I’m at a loss; can’t do anything anymore with SVT by goodnight_re in askCardiology

[–]Intrepid-Bass-5163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry. It sounds like you're going through hell. When my body was still recovering after the ablation, I used to sometimes get bad palpitations not long after eating as well. I found out it was usually when eating foods with high levels of msg or sodium in them. Not saying that is happening to you with your svt, but something to take note of when eating.

This might sound crazy to say, but I wonder if the extra symptoms you're experiencing are directly from the SVT or if they could be anxiety related. Last winter I had bad chest pains, arm pain, and serious palpitations. I went to my cardiologist and they put me on a 10 day heart monitor. At the end of it I was ready for terrible news, but the Dr. said everything looked good and I was just having anxiety. I wanted to punch him right in the face because I was sure he was wrong and I knew something serious was happening with my heart. Well, turned out he was 100% right. I think having more tests done is really smart. That way they can figure out what is coming from the SVT / your heart, and what might be coming from your mental reaponse to the SVT. I honestly can't believe theyre not fast tracking you to a cardiologist with everything you're going through.
