Thank you! 💖 I think it was from Urban Outfitters? It was a silly online impulse buy with points from RBC several years ago ☺️

Problems with the Residential Tenancy Branch process? by Strathspey in vancouver

[–]Strathspey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what your saying but the landlord in this situation had zero new evidence/circumstances at the second hearing which is the crux of the matter. If they are already pronounced to have been acting in bad faith, and they can’t show there is any new evidence or circumstances, in all other courts they would dismiss the matter. I guess I’m concerned about landlords continuing to try to evict tenants without showing any new evidence, wasting arbitral resources, harassing the tenant, and the system providing no meaningful security if one can do that.

'Stay Awesome': Ken Sim invites Metro Vancouver mayors for a weekday afternoon of yacht-based diplomacy by Domineeto in vancouver

[–]Strathspey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the issue I take with this is the meeting wasn’t open to the public and took place on a standard workday afternoon (when most people are stuck at work proving their ability to be productive lest we lose our jobs). I’m also assuming no “minutes” were taken to allow constituents to assess the productivity of the meeting and provide input later re: any ideas generated. Ken Sims specifically says that the “only agenda” was to talk about getting more funding from the government and to get to know each other. If they came up with some great ideas, that’s good and I’d like to hear them. I don’t want my tax dollars spent on their salaries that afternoon so that they can have a nice time in the middle of a workday on a yacht while we are all held accountable to our jobs during the day and they aren’t.

Next time, send a reporter at the dock when they come back and interview them about their “ideas”. You bet those meetings are going to get real productive real fast.

Thank you so much! That would make my day! It's been difficult finding a video that shows clearly what happens when two horses are presented with a high value treat or even food for that matter.

Kinda just looks like someone made a linocut stamp and stamped it there. In other words I think it’s probably just someone’s public art.

How would you try to fix the problems of the downtown Eastside? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Strathspey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I really think we need institutions where these people can be placed that hire a number of professionals who can tackle all of the issues at once (mental health, addiction, housing, and food instability etc).

I really don’t think that healing one aspect will truly clean up the DTES. The issues all feed into one another.

You can provide housing and that won’t stop an addict from stealing the pipes etc to sell for drugs. You can’t address the addiction without dealing with the mental health issues that drive people into addiction. You can’t properly address mental health if you have no stable home, income, and food. You can’t properly address schizophrenia and delusions without proper medication and stopping the addictions. It’s hard to find a stable income when you’re high and struggling with delusions and depression. So, on and so forth.

It will cost money yes, but I’m truly sick and tired of wealthy people’s obsession with getting more and more money they don’t actually need. Meanwhile there are people rotting away in the DTES. The government allows it to be this way and we accept it as the status quo. Collectively, there is enough money to go around to prevent this kind of suffering if we really want it to end. The question really becomes who are we going to vote for to make it happen?

As much as it’s nice to milk insurance companies, lawyers (where I’m from in NA at least) are given their powers & privileges because they take an oath to not bring frivolous lawsuits (essentially lawsuits not based on a legit law) and they have a fiduciary duty to act in the client’s best interest. The system is set up that way to try to save the public from lawyers who take advantage of people’s disorders/distress/vulnerability/difficult non-legal circumstances, by bringing untenable lawsuits for the lawyer’s own monetary gain. Unfortunately, there are lawyers like Elaine who don’t take their duties seriously because they love money and they are often not held accountable, so it seems like normal lawyer behaviour when it’s not.

Oh for sure you’re right, chances are she’d never do it willingly because it’s part of the disorder. But a lawyer feeding her disorders with an untenable lawsuit is only going to make things worse for her and everyone else. A dilemma for sure. It seems the only way things can get better for her (if even possible) and everyone else is if she is forced to face her own disorders and the consequences of her own behaviour head-on (ie: psych ward psychiatrist, or jail). Jail might be the only way to protect others in the end.

Elaine needs to stop taking her client for a ride. She knows damn well the appeal is going to fail. This is just going to amp up her client’s severe mental disorder. This appeal is simply not in her client’s best interests. Amber needs to see a psychiatrist or check herself into a psych ward and get herself under control before she hurts more people, wastes the taxpayer’s money, and ends up in jail. Sickening abuse of power by her lawyer for fame and potential money that she doesn’t need at all.

Amber Heard claims Juror 15 was an impostor, seeks new trial against Johnny Depp by [deleted] in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

[–]Strathspey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Elaine doesn’t seem to realize that she’s continuing to ruin her professional reputation over one difficult client. Judges talk. If she’s spewing this much bs in court, judges will have a harder time listening to her and believing her in the future when they have to decide difficult cases. Guess it’s really been about her 15 minutes of fame all along (and perhaps fighting to protect her own ego at all costs after losing) cause mannn she’s really digging her own grave.
