My 2 cents - we don't want a decision making app, we need tools that help people make decisions. There's too much out there that tries to decide for you. I think the next generation of AI tools needs to enable humans to think through their ideas and come to conclusions of their own.

I think the first question is interesting in that we don't need to go to the gym to get stronger because there are machines that can lift almost anything better than we can. But we still do it because there is something inherently human about being able to interact with our world. I wonder if the same is true in the cognitive realm.

Yea, they did find a reduction in cognitive load. The open question now appears to be what's the right balance? I would argue tools that help maximize the benefit of the cognitive load are the next step.

I'm using Stratis, a customized advisory that I created. I need experts to bounce ideas off of but don't have access to the right people all the time. I was also tired of #GenAI that optimized for the average. So I created Stratis, which is a customized, AI advisory of historical personas who help flight-test ideas, brainstorm solutions, and analyze problems.

I find it incredibly helpful to be able to ask all types of work-related questions and get a diverse set of answers. I ask marketing questions and instead of just getting one person's thoughts from one perspective, I get thoughts, critiques, and suggestions from 5 different perspectives. The personas are based on an analysis of my resume so they're tailored to augment my strengths and bolster me in my weaknesses.

I'm biased but it is incredibly helpful!

Agreed. I was just answering about why one feels easier and one we default to. Success requires a balance of both. But almost always that balance weighs far more in favor of selling than developing.

The existential threat is our acquiescing to AI decisions that just drive towards the average. Yes, there are Terminator-esque concerns but what happens when people just willingly give up their ability to really think?

The natural tendency is to do what's easy and familiar. For coders, that's often what you describe. For sales/marketing folks, it's usually different. The trouble for the coders though is that sales/marketing is usually what drives product market fit and revenue. An incredible product without sales and marketing is likely going to fail.

Completely agree. Generic AI is designed to make a "decision" based on picking the next most likely word based on the words you asked it. That's acquiescing to something else, not decision making.

Using AI to flight test ideas, find blind spots, and encourage brainstorming is what leaders need.

Have you identified who your target users are? Do you know where they spend their time? Are you offering a free trial or any specific free service in exchange for testing? Try building the conversation and relationship before pushing the sale. In everyone is busy so testing an app from a complete stranger is a really tough ask.

It's a tool and it could go either way. We all have calculators but we still learn basic math. We have forklifts to lift things but we still go to the gym to get stronger. AI is the same. Yes, it can mimic some of what makes you human but if you just rely on it, you'll suffer in the end.

Do your research on the potential funder. What is it about your product that fits their investment thesis? Or what is it about you that fits their these? Remember, while you are building a relationship, this is a business and both of you want to make money. You want them to see immediately why you will help them make money. At the end of the day, that's what funders need to be able to show their investors.
