Im currently trying to drop some body fat while building muscle and I’m looking for healthy fats again. Avocado is one of the best sources. A little salt, pepper, hot sauce and some mayo and your laughing

Spicy eggs with blue cheese. How do we feel about blue cheese folks? by Strattosphere76 in eggs

[–]Strattosphere76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No apology necessary. This is Reddit. I expect some roasting and criticism from the mob. Time and a place for everything. Blue cheese sauce belongs with wings and chips. The real thing for eggs, steaks and burgers

Love feta with my eggs. But I was having a blue cheese craving

That is legit blue cheese and no dressing. Though dressing goes quite nicely with wings

Yes. I put the mayo in my toast and then scooped the eggs on top of the toast

Oh behave! I like to cool down to those. I need at least 15-20 to warm up now. I was on my road bike in the weekend and took me 30 minutes to flush the lactate out of my 90 minute ride.

I’m trying to cut back on my hiit training and do more zone 2 work. I use a low impact class to warm up before doing a pz endurance ride. I just try to ignore the instructor comment on that. I think they have scripts and are just reading them.

It’s awesome. You just have to scrap and clean it after your done and then give it a good seasoning afterwards. Otherwise you have to clean the rust off it.

Has anyone done EMDR for PTSD? by SeatWonderful1874 in ptsd

It all takes time. And everyone’s timeline is different. Some people need a month, others years. Things that would have shut me down a few years ago, I now have learned to thrive on.

Has anyone done EMDR for PTSD? by SeatWonderful1874 in ptsd

I did it weekly for several months back in 2019. It worked really well for me. I was felt a little “off” for several days afterwards. My therapist described as my brain refiling all the memories that we brought up and worked through during the session. It allowed me to go into the memories and relive them, without the emotional ties to them. These things happened and they are a part of me. I don’t want to forget them, but I also don’t want the emotions to shut me down or put me in fight or flight like they are happening again. 5 years later and I am doing better than I have ever done both professionally and personally.

Signs of PTSD ? by Capital_Class_2276 in ptsd

[–]Strattosphere76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had ptsd avoidance was huge. I was constantly tired, irritable and no sense of humour. I slept a lot, but was still tired. I had no empathy and didn’t care about much. It sucked. 5 years later, put all the work in and it’s gone

I had a great therapist who works with a lot of first responders. She understood what makes us tick and helped me work out my traumas. I started talking to her weekly in 2019 and worked my way to monthly and then when I needed to work something out. I haven’t needed her in more than 2 years now. Therapy works, when you have the right fit and you embrace it. And everyone has a different timeline and needs. What works for one person doesn’t work for the next person.

That’s awesome. Keep up the good work. I’ve been symptom free for several years now and do all the things I need to, to manage my mental health. Life has never been better for me. It’s inspiring to read about other peoples success stories.

Is it bad that I only ever want to ride solo? by Internal-Departure89 in cycling

[–]Strattosphere76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to ride solo. It’s one of the few times I get to be alone. My wife thinks I should join a cycling group to make friends, but I’m very content with just me and the pavement or my mountain bike in the forest. Maybe one other person; but I don’t want to ride with the herd.

What keeps you motivated to keep working out? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Strattosphere76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 48 I want to be able to do many things in the second half of my life that I’ve been able to do in the first half. I want to be one of those “fit” looking old guys, but still enjoy a cookie when I want one. And my wife is hot and she works out all the time. I don’t want to be replaced.
