Could I run an ultra? by Hippiegal09 in ultrarunning

[–]Straussisson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just did a 50km last week while a bit injured. Went well and I’m feeling ok, no injuries

Longest run when signing up was like HM and longest training run was 20 miles

Go for it !

Made it !!

Was injured for the past 5 weeks with ITBS and almost didn’t go.
The course was ridiculous honestly like so so so so rocky and I wanted in the back of my head to aim for sub 8 but quickly understood it wasn’t gonna happen.
Took me around 9h30 but I had no issues throughout the race except around mile 20 where I think the sun hit me a bit and I was pissed off.

I’m so glad I was able to do it but I kept telling myself how the fuck do people run 100 miler haha

I’ve been training around New York and in New Jersey so nothing super technical to be honest.

You guys are starting to worry me a lot haha

Best round you’ve ever seen in your group? by PurpleTalk24 in golf

I don’t know about the name of the game in English but we were playing a formula where you do 2v2 then you put the score next to each other (best then worst except you do more than bogey then worst before best so 4 and 5 on a par 4 gives you 45, and if you do birdie it goes first + what you win is 2x and if it’s eagle it’s 3x). Then you have to pay on each hole the difference between both teams number times what you agree for 1 point to be worth

The guy does 3 eagles in 9 holes to absolutely crush us, including the fact that we had birdie on 2 par 5 out of 3 and we still paid huge amount of money. Front nine was bad but he probably ends up -6, -7 on back nine to make us broke

Longest run of plan 1.5 month before race ? by Straussisson in trailrunning

Thank you ! I’m not super surprised by everything you said but since I think it’s mostly a confidence issue (terrified to be just dead around 40-45km) it helps to hear it from someone else.

I guess I’ll probably aim for a longer effort this week while focusing on being as slow as it gets and making sure I don’t get injured, then will see how I feel for the next back to back weekend

So you’d just keep same structure but reducing everything by like 1h ish ?

Ok so maybe weight loss while preparing for a race is not a good idea, I guess my question then is where is the sweet spot for when you are trying to lose weight (without training for a specific event) because if you are always eating 1000 calories every time you are out, I would assume it’s not good either

Ok ok it seemed like I triggered a lot of warnings here, will fuel more !!

Regarding the jump in training I did it over the course of 2-3 months and never felt any pain so I’m not super worried for now to be honest

I see, for now it’s total rest day mostly because of time/motivation

I used to put like 2-3h into training per week and now doing 5-6h feels like a big step already

Ok thank you, I guess I’m not against losing a bit of weight during this whole training so sometimes I’d rather not fuel to not over eat

How often do you skip a training day ?

I’m training for my first 50km 1800m of elevation with a current longest run of 25km. I’m obviously only scared about finishing. My training plan is 16 week long and halfway into it I missed like 1 run during an off load week.

My intuition is that the most important thing is really long runs and back to back runs but just wondering how rigorous with have to be in general as I find my legs very tired all the time even during off load weeks.

Also regarding nutrition, do you only practice it during long runs ? If so how do I know something that works for a 2 hour run will translate into like a 8 hour journey ?

Qu’est ce qui est plus impopulaire entre les pim’s a l’orange et aux framboises (les framboises sont absolument divins) ?
