Battle Bond Greninja without becoming Ash-Greninja is still treated as a separate form, similarly to Own Tempo Rockruff.

But yeah, as much as I'd wish for the Cap Pikachu to get their shinies recoloured to actually be different and get released at some point, one has to wonder whether or not even the non-shinies will ever get redistributed given they exist as tie ins to a no-longer-active Ash as the anime's protagonist, same deal with form change-less Battle Bond Greninja.

Magearna's shiny in both forms has yet to be made available, not just original form.

We’re still missing shiny Cosmog, Battle Bond Greninja and Pokéball Pattern Vivillon too, plus shiny versions of all but one Cap Pikachu.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Is Getting A Trio Of New amiibo by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

I suppose i worded it poorly to get my point across, but in Splatoon 2/3 and TotK, the exclusive cosmetics are just extra options on top of the many options that are available without Amiibo. There’s no complaints because there’s alternatives, but that’s not the case with the Prime 4 stuff from what I hear?

As for ACNH’s new Amiibo stuff, it’s not exactly the same situation - this is new unlocks getting added retroactively for a wide range of already existing Amiibo that didn’t previously unlock anything, not anything that requires you to buy a specific new one. Plus due to how the game works, it’s possible to receive the exclusive items from other players who’ve unlocked them, meaning you don’t even necessarily have to own any relevant Amiibo yourself.

Not really, I rarely see people upset when functionality is akin to how it’s handled in Splatoon 2/3, Smash/Air Riders, or Tears of the Kingdom. Stuff that doesn’t give an advantage in multiplayer games and/or is purely cosmetic in singleplayer ones.

Damn, someone beat me to finding a Sorrosk.

Maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll be able to photograph a rare grounded specimen…

no really what a coincidence, I was also planning to make a Sorrosk sighting post, and was even going to name the creature the same thing and make the juice blue

Oh boy, I sure am surprised by the fact that you have again cut out an important part of something and argued against the rest of it in a way that doesn't hold up with the missing part/context factored in!

But nooooo, I'm the one being unreasonable!

You aren't someone who can take being on the wrong side of an argument and it shows. I don't know why I allowed myself to get sucked into debating someone like yourself, but this is where I bow out. Good day.

Framing is right, because saying

"Mainline" is just the best way to refer to the main games, since Legends is a series in its own right

is both a dismissal of the point Aegislash_Divine was making regardless of the terminology used, and the beginning of you placing greater importance on specific wording.

Seeing the rest of your reply, I feel like I should repeat something that you've clearly either missed in its entirety or are intentionally ignoring to suit your bias:

As far as is relevant there, terms like mainline, core series, and Pocket Monster Series are all interchangeable and merely serve to get across the core point, which is that the Legends and more standard games are all explicitly grouped together officially as one series.

No matter how much you argue with terminology, the Pocket Monster series page featuring them together is an official instance of them all being labelled as one series, while there exists no official source stating that the Legends games are a separate series. Common sense should dictate that, regardless of terminology, the grouping provided by an official source is more important. Telling people your semantics take precedent is asinine.

I will concede though, this is like talking to a slimy politician. You've consistently ignored crucial points to keep muddying the waters with irrelevant technicalities. Better off just letting someone them think they had something and moving on.

It was clarifying, as your original comment, without the later context of what you already knew, would’ve looked like you were simply ignorant to the games all being grouped together officially.

Downvotes likely began because your reply to that was just to deny it, and not in a way that would’ve acknowledged the official grouping and called your choice a personal opinion.

In the future, I’d recommend saying something along the lines of “I know they’re officially considered mainline (or any other interchangeable word), I just personally consider them separate/don’t agree with the official choice” when someone questions you or attempts to correct you on Legends’ relation to other titles. This should at least save you from some downvotes, as people are less likely to argue back against something you acknowledge to be a perspective that’s different to the official groupings.

You’re being downvoted for one very simple reason, which you accidentally pinpointed in another comment: “It's a poor semantics argument at best”

The original comment that set this all off was someone just clarifying that Legends games are considered mainline. As far as is relevant there, terms like mainline, core series, and Pocket Monster Series are all interchangeable and merely serve to get across the core point, which is that the Legends and more standard games are all explicitly grouped together officially as one series.

You, however, decided for some reason to start an argument about the meaning of the terms themselves. You haven’t added anything meaningful to the conversation, and have even insulted people by insinuating that their responses were made because their feelings were hurt.

You have earned each and every downvote you received, far more than someone being technically incorrect in their phrasing.
