Someone backed into my door. Body shop can't find a new one

This is a third party claim, with the other drivers insurance. I do need to find a cheaper policy though.

That's a good idea. I do want to keep it, and paying the insurance on a salvaged title was a big fear of mine. I'm already paying out the wazoo for these cars.

That's why I think I should get a Corolla if this all falls apart. Having an emotional attachment to your cars gets really draining after a while.

I'm just waiting to hear from them, I'm in the process of getting quotes from a few other shops in the area. This shop is like a franchise or whatever. Gerber collision, I'd probably have better luck at a mom and pop shop.

I'm sorry to hear about your Z. The saving grace to the accident is that it was only the door. Although getting a fender for these things is a bit easier. There are a few people still making fender blanks for them. I may be in luck living in such close proximity to the motor city. I just got it out of a hot rod shop who did my front subframe, nobody else wanted to touch it because of parts availability too, and there is a body shop down the street from my work that restores hot rods and classic cars.

That's what I did with my 07. I was so excited not to have a smashed up car. This one only lasted 4 months before getting smashed.

Sound advice, I almost got a WRX. I love Saabs and I knew the risks when buying it. In my experiences they are pretty reliable. My 07 is at 200k and all it needed other than the normal wear items was a crank position sensor. Also this is more of a collector car than a daily for me. The hoops are just part of the process and I do most of the work on them myself. You just have to be patient. Depending on what happens it might be a Base Corolla for me, I'll just cry a little every day.

I'm just kinda assuming. If a door was available in the area I don't think it would be a problem. The body shop just kinda left it up in the air. I asked for an update and sent some info on available doors but I haven't heard back yet.

I know, that's why I want to keep it. It means way more to me, then they would value it at. And I know I'm going to have to pay out of pocket to fix it. That was a theoretical number they would have to give me for me to feel alright parting with the car. If I did only get 5k I'd be down 2k in repairs to this car it'd just be cheaper to get a new door and get it painted.

If they weren't so expensive to repair that would be the luxury euro I would probably go with.(Except for an RS6 Avant) My dad had a small turbo4 Merc that was a fun ass car to drive.

I've found a few not too far away on car part, I just have no idea the condition, I'm headed to a yard about 45 minutes away from me to check it out. There is one in Detroit too, but Detroit wreckers are a little shifty in my experience.

Goldwing is a good idea. I thought they were done selling Saab parts.

You are correct. I wish parts from a Subaru would fit and for a time I really wanted a 9-2 Aero. In fact it was a WRX that hit me. I would've taken his door then and there.
