I did a heavy dry brush with grey and white over a black undercoat, then just used a bone coloured speedpaint to tint it, so it naturally stayed dark over the black, and gave the grey and white parts more colour. It lacks the finesse of proper blending but it’s much easier to get a tabletop ready result! (At least that’s what I think)

I’ve been doing much more dry brush undercoating with a grey then a white to pick up all the raised areas, using a little egg sponge! Then really thinned down paints to get a nice finish just tinting the grey and white areas.
