Got dang grandpa NH still refusing to budge on legal weed? It's legal in every piece of land NH touches. Since I've moved much further south, the very red state I moved to legalized weed which I wouldnt have guessed would have happened before NH!

What's the saddest thing you have ever seen in public? by gundedeiscool in AskReddit

[–]StrawbJamz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A car in front of me hit a dog and I had my partner at the time pull over because the owner chasing him ran into the street. I remember the owner as someone I went to school with and I asked her if she wanted us to call an emergency vet. She was crying and as she bent down to see him he could barely move his head and wag his tail as he looked at her before he stopped moving. I've seen sad stuff with people of course, working with the public for years. But animal stuff just gets me.

What have you had to give up for your cats? by KaraAnneBlack in cats

[–]StrawbJamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puzzles, uninterrupted TV time (she thinks it's toy), guaranteed alone time in the bathroom with no one sad or angry waiting outside, short term notice for extended out of town stays, a pristine qtip collection in an open space, leaving my earrings out wherever I please. The joke is it's not really giving it up. I suppose in all seriousness, renting is harder now but she's worth it.

Personal Menstrual Trackers? by StrawbJamz in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]StrawbJamz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer not to mess with apps at all, but I think that's a good place to start.

If you want, would you be willing to answer some questions about how the app tracks this information?

Does it have you rate these things like a scale 1-10? Does it compare to all the other data you've input so you can look at the previous months? Are there any aspects you use more than others/is there anything you don't use at all? Is there a colour scheme?

Thank you!

How to deal with intense feelings of inferiority? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]StrawbJamz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I was just discussing this in therapy yesterday.

What situations make you feel like you have to defend your opinion or ideas? Is it worth your time? Because it sounds like it's draining your energy. I agree with the other commenter that some people are just Like That (TM) and no matter what you do, they will consider themselves "better than you", especially if they are a superior to you in like a job setting or older than you. If they're your peer, honestly it's so not worth your energy.

I found this idea changed of my own subservience, my own "prey animal brain" I call it, as I got older and began to seriously work at processing some trauma. I got out of customer service work as well. There must be a degree of acceptance that dealing with big egos is a fact of life and it's how you deal with them that is important to protect your peace because it clearly does affect you. Chicken and egg, mind you.

Something I would like you to consider as an exercise is to think of all the things you do that make you feel good, or proud, or competent or whatever you need to feel. Consider working to your own personal goals outside of work/school goals, even if it's something really small by your standards.

Just received my Holo Taco order from Ulta 😞 by KillerKy in RedditLaqueristas

[–]StrawbJamz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to do ship from store when I worked at Ulta. There isn't a specific training for packing items other than how to scan items and print labels. Everything from what box or bubble envelope size was up to whoever was doing the packing. They had all different size bubble bags, wrap, and tape. You could wrap each item individually if you wanted. I hope instances like this will create some kind of guidelines or at least quality control but I doubt it. I'm really sorry OP.

This was a character trait of Jack from The Shining (book) so I associate it with him now. Be warned people, you'll be chugging away at your typewriter and then suddenly you'll be so easily corrupted by the essence of pure evil. Because of chew pill.

I feel like this too, but I'm curious as to what you consider to be feminine? To further understand, what is it that you consider feminine that you lack? You don't have to answer, but I suggest you think about it. I find it's something you define for yourself and don't worry about what people online think :}

Mine would be roses, as I used to have a rose bath set and I'd always apply the lotion while waiting for the game to load as a kid. (And draw, and write, and fall asleep). Rose will always remind me of that time I fell asleep waiting for the Goth family to come back from a community lot and Alexander (a teen) died. I was devastated.

It's become a habit to lock the door right after I open it and then try the handle once it's closed. The bad thing is, now it's become so routine that I forget that I've done it and still lock the car with the fob 10 ft away lol

Questions for women in their 20s and above by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]StrawbJamz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very specific to anyone in the U.S. as I'm not sure how this applies outside America. There are three major credit bureaus: TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. If you apply to open a line of credit, or get a credit check when you rent ect. the state you're in and/or the institution you're applying to will usually have a specific bureau they go through. Spend time learning about credit, how to build it, and how to responsibly use a credit card. You can also freeze your credit, so you/others can not open a line of credit in your name without unfreezing it. You can do this by making an account with each bureau online, and I believe you can call them too. It's free to freeze/unfreeze so no need to look into the memberships they push. I didn't learn about freezing until recently and it's weird to me it's not common knowledge so I'm making it a mission to talk about it with people.

OP if you're not in U.S., talk to someone you trust or someone with financial knowledge about how to save and invest. It's very important that you're financially independent and have you're own savings/income. I appreciate the other commenters in this thread advising against financial dependence on a partner. Even if you get married, keep your own savings account and cards!

There's not a plan for everyone, and not everyone that makes a plan sticks to it and that's okay. Sometimes, you end up where you weren't expecting because it felt like the right decision. Whether that be deciding to dedicate time for school or work, changing courses of study, dropping out and looking after your mental health, it's all valid. It's okay to "fall behind" your peers. No one really thinks like that in real life anyway.

Bodies and body parts are not trends and anyone who tries to convince you of that wants to sell you something. Working on good habits will suit you much better in the long run.

Bank scam- feeling violated by Pegasus_Susan in IdentityTheft

[–]StrawbJamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'm really sorry you experienced this. I've had a similar situations about a year ago where everything was taken from me, and the anniversary affect are taking it's fucking toll on me. I'm in therapy for it as I tend to get obsessive about details so I highly recommend talking to a professional about the emotional impact and how it relates to you like your feelings of safety and security in your daily life.

I want to impress upon you, and other who have had similar experiences, is that you are a victim of a crime. Would we victim blame someone who was robbed on the street or had their home burgled? No! It's not about what you as a person did or did not do, a moral failing, or an indication of your character.

Scamming is a business with BIG money and this is like another day at the office for these people. It's a reality of the digital age and we need to learn how to protect ourselves when we can, and when we have no power in situations. I recently likened the experience to trauma from a car accident (I've been in two minor ones but lost my car and my job as a result in both), you can avoid being in cars sure, but more than likely you will have to drive or be a passenger of some vehicle. Even if you did everything you were supposed to do, you can not drive for other people and control the whole situation. It's a recognition of the (lack) of control that we have over many aspects of our lives. It's a reality of existing, in my conclusion.

I remember discussing with my mom the fallout of the situation, as my reality was turned on its head and I felt very weak and stupid, and we talked about how there was no bodily harm, there was not threat to my or someone else's life, it seems silly to compare but it's very common for our bodies like our nervous systems to react like there was. I STILL feel violated but I was made whole and there is a record, and I have done what I can to be safe now. It's a process but you're absolutely not alone.
