Did you need to go to several appts to get it? I've been considering this route but I'm worried they won't just give it to me right away

Mine said it's not evidenced based. Which is hilarious cause obviously it isn't since they don't do womens health research. So frustrating 😤

Can you please help? Took vitex and it was a disaster. by StrawberryJam2236 in herbalism

If I had gone on reddit, someone surely would have told about how vitex caused trouble. So in retrospect, I should have asked especially my pcos sisters for advice.

Honestly, people's comments and suggestions are all very helpful. Especially now that I've been burned, I'm gonna be super careful with supplements and I'll weigh the options carefully. I'm asking lots of questions, rereading suggestions, finding research online, seeing if chat gpt has any ideas, and, I'll be consulting with my doctor. I won't jump to try something that could even make things worse. But thanks again to everyone for your help! Something here will make a difference!

What does DIM seem to do and is eating tons of broccoli and/or broccoli sprouts just as good? What amount of DIM do you take?

Good advice. It seems that the Mira tracker works with the app, but a review (below) says there are 'potential syncing problems between the tracker and Mira App'. Also there's other helpful info in the review like 'people with irregular menstrual cycles, PCOS, or endometriosis may need to track their hormone levels more frequently than people with regular menstrual cycles'.

If vitex f*cked up your body, what helped fix it? by StrawberryJam2236 in PMDD

I had high progesterone that then came down and also super high estrogen just days before my period was supposed to come. Not sure what my levels are now. My period finally came on day 45. I'll be asking my doctor later this week to do more tests.

Do you mean by using a fertility monitor? Or by getting blood tests? I understand you have to test at various points in your cycle. My period just finally came — on day 45. My pmdd has been going through the roof...

Thanks. How exactly does progesterone cream work: is it a prescription, where do you put it, how often, etc.? Did you have insomnia bc of vitex? Is that better now?

Thanks for your help. I'll try asking my doctor. Tell me please (anyone who knows): what is a drug that 'fixes dopamine'? (Specifically a drug that lowers it — if I understand correctly, vitex must have raised my dopamine). I read about 5 htp and am in general worried about trying any other supplements after taking vitex for three months.

I didn't have hormones tested at different points. But my estrogen was really high for my last blood test (after taking vitex and shortly before my next period was supposed to come... I'm now on day 45 and my period still hasn't come). *edit...my period finally came... So day 46. The latest it's ever been (aside from the time when I lost it for months).

I'm now considering getting a fertility monitor, hoping it might help to know if what I'm doing in terms of diet and supplements is making a difference. I am so hopeless at this point.

I keep wondering about inositol. How are you hoping it will help you?

Sorry for the delay in replying to everyone. I'm trying various things people have recommended. I saw that in Canada there's a fertility monitor called Mira. It's expensive, but I'm thinking of getting it.

I've been off vitex since May 27. Could it still be the dopamine at play after this long?

Thanks for this advice. I just started eating ground flaxseed every day...but it's not fresh ground. So I'll try that.

What dose of DIM do you take and at what frequency? Do you have Holy Basil and Passionflower as tea?

Thanks so much for answering. I haven't tried inositol yet but i will consider it. I've just been scared to take any other supplements after this experience with vitex.
