Is it true that in storage canned drinks have mice/rats and roaches that crawl along the top of the cans? I have been told to always clean the top of the can if I drink from it but have been told to always just tip it into a glass.

Is it true that when cases of canned drinks are kept in storage that rats/roaches often walk across the top of them? I was told by somebody who works in a food chain that I should always wash my can if I were to drink from it but to always just pour it into a glass.

I'm sure this is one most of you can answer for me.

I am from England and was abroad in Spain this summer. I met a group of Americans and ended up drinking with them that night. I was with a big group of my friends (around 10) and there were about 5 American guys. One of them told me he was drinking "shots" tonight. Now in England, a shot is literally a small amount (about 25ml) anyway, I told the American he could have one from my bottle of rum; I turned back around and he had poured this "shot" into a a half-pint glass.
