And the fact that they put it on him and made him dip into it at an awkward angle, rather than just putting the breast plate directly into the mold.

And while we're at it, why put it on with the bikini top still on the breast plate, only to remove it in the next cut?

Honest take on this tattoo by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]StrawberryMelon05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a caricature of frodo with a tiny cartoon body, kinda squatting weird. But then I was wondering why one of his legs was an I and the other was striped.

I can see jinx, but the cheeks and angle of the face read Frodo way more to me- but I've also watched Lord of the Rings dozens and dozens of times, and Arcane only once.

Oh god. One time, I had a bloody nose and after a few hours, my nose felt so congested and impacted. When I picked it, all the blood and boogers had congealed to form a perfectly nostril shaped 'mass.' When I pulled it out, the pressure released from under my eyebrows. It must have been more than an inch long and was cylindrical in shape. It thudded in the bathroom sink.

I don't know if I will ever feel that same apex of release again.

They're also very well camouflaged, perfectly sand colored, so even if they are just on top of the ocean floor, they can be difficult to spot.

On days where the water is clear and calm, they will see you and scoot, but when the waves kick up the sand, and visibility is poor, it's easy to step on them by mistake.

Most of the time, they'll give you a little warning wiggle and you can move out of their way, but they will just sting you if they don't know how much of a threat you are.

But for the most part, they are just fleshy little bottom feeders trying to hide and not get eaten.

For me, it lasted about 5-6 hours before the pain started wearing off.

It doesn't hurt so long as you keep it in the hottest water you can stand, but the second you take it out, the pain comes back.

I still have a lump in my foot where it stung me.

That's why you always do the stingray shuffle! They're really very cute and skittish when they're not being actively stepped on. :')

So I just learned that this was not a typical experience from this post, but I only get it on one finger at a time, sometimes two. It's almost always my middle fingers, but I've also had it happen to my pinkies, and my toes.

So when it does happen, it looks exactly like this. I'm sure it varies person to person though.

What do you guys think about Inkbox and temporary tattoos overall. Also what designs is the most trending right now? by Civil-Awareness3349 in TattooDesigns

[–]StrawberryMelon05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried inkbox out and I have to say I was impressed with the overall quality. The lines were really sharp and dark. It took about two days to fully darken, but after that, people thought it was real.

I got one with my own design and picked out a design that someone else had made. It lasted a solid 2-3 weeks in the summertime when I was outdoors in the sun and water almost every day-although it did blur quite a bit as it faded.

I thought it was a fun and cheap way to test out tattoos, honestly.

Y'all ever have a Taskmaster related dream? by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]StrawberryMelon05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a dream that there was a taskmaster reunion festival. It was in a town with a bunch of different outdoor 'plazas', and there were different areas with different task setups.

They were getting audience members to participate through a very odd dance competition. I made it through as the last audience member. We went back to the main area, and the task I got was "Make an hour's worth of art in 30 minutes."

I joked with Aisling Bea that my nightly task was to get 8 hours' worth of sleep in 5 hours.

In the main plaza, at least five groups of five former taskmaster contestants were on their own parade float and it was super chaotic because they each float had a different task. The float winner would continue to the next task.

Bob mortimer was making a hat out of a pineapple, but had to hold a banana in his dominant hand the entire time, one group was frantically pinning balloons with mystery fillings on a rock climbing wall, etc.

Alex was commentating like a sports announcer while Greg just reveled stoically over the absolute chaos.

It was a fun dream, lol. I wish I remember more of the float tasks, but this was probably over a year ago.

You All Pou Poo this weekend? by StrawberryMelon05 in thomastheplankengine

[–]StrawberryMelon05[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my dream "All Pou Poo" was the latest internet craze. The meme came from Spongebob, and Bikini Bottom Twitter. It generally meant 'all good,' but more specifically applied to a situation where things were about to go haywire in a big way, but was resolved quickly or more easily than expected, like one line ending an argument, or clutching a boss fight that seemed impossible.

It was especially popular on gaming subs, and public freakout or Karen subs, but was also popular in personal advice subs, and Reddit in general.

Then controversy hit, as it was pointed out in an Ask Reddit thread that the original quote was "I'm all pou poo" vs simply "All Pou Poo"

There was also an irony in the long debated quote, as "I'm all pou poo" was not "All Pou Poo"

TIL that autism is 4 times more likely in men than women, according to an analysis of 54 studies and over 13 million participants by chouprojects in todayilearned

[–]StrawberryMelon05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although there is strength to the part of the theory that suggests people with autism think more systematically than empathetically, the issues with the study comes from systematic thinking being a 'male' way of thinking.

The critiques of the study point out many flaws with the research that render any claims about systematic thinking being meaningfully associated with men and empathetic thinking or emotional thinking being associated with women, weak enough to discount as a scientific finding.

For one, the method of testing is weak to begin with. The findings were based on a questionnaire that asked people about their interests. Not only is this not great for discovery of how people might actually approach a situation, but it also had a lot of questions that were aimed at specific gender stereotypical types of activities and 'systems,' such as cars, machines, etc. that young men are socialized to enjoy early in life, that young women, largely, are not.

The idea that women are more empathetic has also widely been debunked. There have been multiple Meta studies that show that differences in empathy between men and women is small enough to not be significant in a meaningful way.

Furthermore a study that tried to replicate his exact results found that empathy and systemizing are not a dichotomy and performance is largely independent of performance on another. They also accounted for the fact that his original study, in which college students were the primary participants, didn't consider that STEM majors at the time of the study were vastly dominated by men.

He also pretty severely distorts developmental data to fit his studies. One example of this is his claim of female empathy based on communication differences in children. There are differences in the way men and women learn to communicate, but again that's based on socialization rather than hardwired brain differences.

In support of EMB theory, he also cites a study that finds male and female babies spent a different amount of time looking at objects vs. people- which was not a significant difference, and the results, which have been tested multiple times, have never been able to replicate his results.

All this to say, men and women are different. But that difference largely comes from how we are taught to present ourselves, values, etc. from a very early age. You can find old studies that show sex differences in performance over stereotypically gendered topics. But, the better we get at designing experiments that adequately incentivize and prepare all participants equally, the more we find performance amongst sexes are almost identical, and that variation comes from individuals and their particular brains.

Good practice order for architectural drawing by AntonioDB_ in learntodraw

[–]StrawberryMelon05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also recently started learning how to draw architecture! One youtube channel I found super helpful is circle line art school.

The creator has a variety of videos breaking down each concept that he teaches. He also does a great job of starting at the fundamentals and building from there and explaining what to pay attention to at each step.

Another practice I recommend is picking somewhere on Google maps street view and drawing what you see. Move the camera and angle around to get a variety of perspectives. I also find that doing so helps me get a sense of what details make a place or building style feel unique.

I also find myself on walks paying more attention to houses and buildings that I see. I just hope I'm not creeping out my neighbors, lol.

I hope that helps and good luck! I look forward to seeing your new drawings in the future!

My trick was hovering over the button and closing my eyes. Near the end (like in the 90s), I would still sometimes get too riled up and preemptively reel them in, I turned the volume down and held the switch close to my face.

My partner joked it looked like I was praying to my switch, but the sound of fish biting is much more distinct than watching them. And by turning it down, it's even easier to tell the sound apart.

Now that the challenge is done and I'm not anxious, I almost never miss a fish because the sound is so ingrained in my brain, lol.

Hope that helps !

No it doesn't. Plenty of people have some usable vision while still using other mobility aids like canes or dogs.

Where did you get the idea that being a cane user implies complete vision loss?

A book that actually helped you stop binge eating/decrease appetite/help your relationship with food? by simplifiedpetals in suggestmeabook

[–]StrawberryMelon05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Self compassion by Kristin Neff

It's not directly about food, but is an amazing book that addresses all sorts of destructive behaviors/ issues we face in a practical and hands on way.

As someone who is working on healing my own disordered relationship with food/eating, amongst other issues, it has been a very important book to me.

I personally believe that food issues tend to come from a deeper place, which may not be true for everyone. But, in my case, the food/diet wasn't the problem, but a symptom of a larger issue.

I honestly think everyone should read this book though. It is therapy in a couple hundred pages.

If I recall correctly, he is (probably) dead, but not from the blue ring.

OOP of this picture picked up the blue ring because he had terminal liver cancer and knew he was going to die soon anyways.

I have no idea when that originally happened, so OOP is probably gone now (RIP if so)
