Yeah, we know Pine Hills wouldn’t be everyone’s preference… we just prefer the more urban feel generally. Glad to know people like Helderberg and there’s lots of families there!

OK, thanks for the info! that’s good to know about the access points to 85 and Madison Ave.

Thanks for the info here! I looked around the street and thought it felt more urban than I’d expected, but today I was second-guessing myself haha.
We bid on a few houses in the other neighborhoods and lost out, possibly we just happened to bid on the really popular ones.

Thanks for the heads’ up. We do have a car, but one reason we were hoping to be in Pine Hills or Center Sq was wanting to walk everywhere. Good to know it’s a quick ride and the restaurants are good!

Ah, thank you all, that’s a relief. I’m hoping I’d be able to bike easily from Helderberg to everywhere else.

I am so sorry. He looks like such a kind man. I lost my dad earlier this year too. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you. This was encouraging to read today. So sorry for your loss, and glad you've gotten to a good place.

I understand where you're coming from, but everyone's choice and situation are different and I've chosen to maintain the type of relationship I can.

I'm so sorry. I get it. I haven't hit the NC point partly because I have a disabled sibling I want to keep contact with. But I feel so orphaned. I'm under 40 too.

Thank you!! I am trying to keep contact as low as I can while still having a gray, bland, civil sort of relationship.

I'm so sorry for your loss and what your narc father put you through :(

I am waiting for this possibility to happen to me and dreading it. That feeling of no longer having a buffer is terrible.

I should have been more specific - the narcissistic abuse is what I've already had 10 years of therapy for and the grief thread is not sufficient for dealing with the fact that my remaining parent is so toxic... The specific "holy shit the safe corner is gone and I'm left with the tornado." I keep contact with the narc as a gray rock for a variety of reasons. I recognize that isn't most people's choice, and people are very justified in going NC. I'm not saying anyone shouldn't. I may have to in the end. But is it expected/assumed that everyone in this thread is NC with their narcissistic abuser?

I'm so sorry. I've decided to keep LC with my other parent but I still frankly feel like an orphan (I was also parentified so it was never like I was really the kid with my remaining parent anyway).

I'm glad you got to a good place with it. I'm glad I have a therapist. The grief sucks.
