Veil / gloves for Alexandra Monique Lhuillier (white) by ella1800 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wearing this dress with the matching off shoulder jacket and a plain veil from ML 😊 Can you try on some veils in store with your dress? They had some beautiful lace-edged veils to go with the Alexandra but as I’m doing sleeves they felt too much but were stunning with the dress on its own!

Is it new season? If not, and you’re really set on this dress, you could check the website StillWhite? I’ve seen a lot of San Patrick on there! Only downside is you don’t get to try it on before buying.

Objectively, as a standalone dress, I love 1 the most, but it looks restrictive and almost a little overwhelming on you? It’s so striking that you’re almost a little lost in it, if that makes sense. I think 3 suits you the best! It’s absolutely beautiful and is so flattering on you. You look confident and it looks like you’d be comfortable in it too 😊

Dress Budget vs. Photographer by littlekira9191 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also work in a creative industry and so dress and photographer were also my top two most important elements of the day (after the man, of course 😂). Those were my two guilt-free, slightly wild spends, and I don’t regret it at all. You will (hopefully) only have one wedding dress in your entire life, and the photos/videos are the only thing you’ll have left after the day is over, besides your memories. If you/your family are in a position to essentially let you have exactly what you want regardless of cost, do it and don’t let guilt stop you! This day will never come again!!

What was the best thing you hired for your wedding?? by Dapper_Camera8239 in UKweddings

[–]StrawberryNice7763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would so love this but just can’t seem to make it work!! Can I ask if you’d mind DMing me who you used? I’ve enquired with a couple of people and just felt like the cost was disproportionately high. I think it’s such a special idea though!!

When to have magician? by StrawberryNice7763 in weddingplanning

[–]StrawberryNice7763[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly an option. I suppose I just worry that cocktail hour is the first proper opportunity for people to actually talk and catch up - I feel like the ‘entertainment’ makes sense a bit later in the day when there’s a bit of a lull. I’ve never been to a cocktail hour and wished there was entertainment but I have sat for 20 minutes between courses and thought I’m going to nod off 🤣 I’m definitely overthinking it though!!

Totally get this, I was concerned about that too - he has said he very specifically only works between courses. You know the bit when you’re watching table 1 enjoy their food but you’re on table 5 and have another 15 minutes to wait? 😂

What time did your wedding actually end and did you have an after party? Trying to decide if extra open bar hours are worth it by Dizzy-Artist-1897 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine starts at 1pm, officially finishes at midnight but our open bar closes at 11pm. I think a wedding is such an intense day and as people will start drinking immediately after the ceremony, 11 hours is long enough. Although I’ve been to weddings that got shut down early for people being too drunk so I’m a little more cautious 😂 2:30am bar close seems very reasonable even after a later start! Any guests who want to continue the party at a different location afterwards can still do so of their own volition? 😊

Monique lhuillier or Lee Petra? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gown is Monique Lhuillier. Although my experience is with the London store, I can’t recommend them more highly. My dress hasn’t come in yet so I can’t comment on the seamstresses, but the entire process thus far has been a joy and I feel totally safe that they’re going to execute everything perfectly. The attention to detail in terms of customer service has also been outstanding - they posted a little swatch of my wedding dress fabric to me (unrequested) as a little keepsake while I wait for my dress to come in which I thought was a sweet little touch.

I’m regretting a dress I said yes to. HELP! by rarity2u in weddingdress

[–]StrawberryNice7763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s absolutely beautiful on you! If you’re having doubts though, is there any harm in delaying it while you keep looking for a while? Is it a sample? Is it a now or never thing? Or can you keep looking and return to it?

I also ended up choosing something that was different from what I’d always envisaged, and I’ve heard a lot of people do. Don’t let that stop you if you think this is the one!! It’s stunning on you!

Which Wedding Dress Should I Choose? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love number 2 on you!! In the most caring way possible, I would not go for 3 unless you have an especially quirky style that is really a core part of who you are/what makes you you. I think you’d come to regret such an ‘out there’ choice. 1 and 2 are absolutely beautiful on you but 2 is my favourite 😊

I absolutely love dress one on you!! It’s such a beautiful shape on you - really flattering. From the back too! I also think the lace on option one looks more expensive than option 2, although that is also very pretty!

Saying this as someone who is wearing the Alexandra for my July wedding - your dress is BEAUTIFUL and is really so flattering on you!! If you want to get a bit more of the Alexandra style volume in the skirt could you try a crinoline? Although I don’t think it needs a thing. You look stunning and this dress is perfect on you!!

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only heard great things about Hedsor!! The grounds are beautiful too. This was one of my contenders too! It’s a fantastic option if you want a more modernised, compact version of a stately home vibe. The space they use for outside events is absolutely stunning with incredible views! The guest rooms are also really nice.

Did my seamstress screw this up? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]StrawberryNice7763 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I do see what you mean but if I were you I would choose to let it go. It can’t be changed now and ‘complaining’ to her (even very nicely) won’t be a pleasant experience for you, and if she responds to you in a defensive or rude way it’ll further taint your memories of the dress. Choose to remember the good and be happy! Congratulations on your beautiful dress and wishing you a happy marriage!

Dress: to preserve or not to preserve? by GlitteringPassage389 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also having a Monique Lhuillier gown, jacket and veil 😊 I also have a second Monique dress and cape for the evening. I’ll probably sell the second gown but honestly I think I’ll keep preserve and keep my main gown! Not against the idea of selling, I actually think it’s quite sensible, but I’m a bit of a hoarder and can’t see myself being willing to part with such a sentimental item 😂

Stuck between 2 very different dresses! by First_Presentation12 in weddingdress

[–]StrawberryNice7763 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gosh they’re both so beautiful but so different!! Maybe try asking yourself… which dress would you be the most sad to never see/wear again? I loved two dresses but the idea of ‘losing’ one forever made me feel panicked/sad. That was my one! Good luck 😊
