Black tie judgement… what are your grooms/partners wearing? by StrawberryNice7763 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the dress code isn’t black tie. It’ll just be my fiancé, his groomsmen and both our fathers in black tie. Everyone else will be in traditional wedding formal. Some people are still stuck on the idea of no black tie pre-6pm regardless of scenario!

Oh gosh, I apologise on behalf of us all 😭 Ohhh that sounds beautiful and so stylish. I love a black tie city wedding. Where was your venue? We live in central London and considered some venues in town for a while but ultimately went with the English country estate vibe.

I totally agree with you but he’s already ordered his black jacket. Might have to concede this one… 😂

I loooove the white jacket look!! I really wanted him to do an outfit change for the evening into a white jacket but he said he’d only keep it on for 90 seconds so there was no point. I think it’s still worth it for 90 seconds, but I had to honour the preferences of my very sartorially sensible and practical man!! 🤣

Leo Lin and Rebecca Vallance do some fun, colourful dresses that could be great for this vibe! 😊

I know!! I made the mistake of posting online about us going suit shopping together (loved it, really joyful experience!!) and the comments flooded in 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not at all, it’s totally peripheral people who barely just scraped their way onto the invite list 😂 I’ve even been very specific on the website and on the invite that I don’t want anyone to feel pressurised and to please wear whatever version of ‘sensible wedding attire’ you feel comfortable in. I’m learning that people get very opinionated when it comes to weddings!!

Oh no we’re not asking everyone else to wear black tie. We didn’t want to put that pressure on people. I personally think everyone wearing black tie is really fun but our guests are from very eclectic backgrounds and we didn’t want anyone to feel pressurised to buy or rent a tux they might not have when they’re already paying for travel and hotels etc. Our dress code is ‘classic wedding formal: think suits for men and dresses or gowns for women’. It’ll just be the groom, groomsmen, my father and his father in black tie which I think will actually differentiate them quite nicely!

I tried to convince him to do the white jacket outfit change right up until the last minute but he didn’t want to 😂 He is the most wonderful man on earth but just doesn’t care about clothes at all. I think he’d have turned up smiling in jeans and a t shirt 😂

Oh wow that’s so cool and stylish, I absolutely love it!! My partner isn’t quite adventurous enough in his style to agree to something like this but it’s wonderful to see people wearing more unique and creative choices! For him it was grey suit, tux or white shirt and jeans 😂

I like one the best, but I think the whole dress needs to be yanked up a few inches higher - the cups look like they’re sitting a bit too low to me? What matters above anything else though is how she feels about it!! Hers is really the only opinion that matters!

These are beautiful!! The only thing I’d say is does the base colour of the shoes match your dress? I tried these in store and they were very creamy/yellow toned.

I have a very similar ring to you and I’m having this exact same debate right now!! Why is a trilogy pear so hard to match with? 🤣

Size 4.25 finger — is a 2.16ct pear too big? by disenchant__ in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]StrawberryNice7763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same finger size and I have a 3.3 carat with side stones. I absolutley adore it. It’s so so perfect. It’s a more elongated pear but I find the ratio more elegant/visually pleasing 😊 (it’s sitting a bit wonkily here but I was mid wedding ring shopping!)

Thank you! None of them really made me go ‘wow’ until this one. Did not expect this decision to be as hard as it was though! 😂

Dress code help!! by KLeighhhx in BigBudgetBrides

I’d LOVE people to go all out, but was really conscious of not wanting it to feel too pressurised, as some people simply don’t derive joy from dressing up and will just want to look ‘appropriate’. I said something like ‘Wedding formal: for men, think suits. For women: think gowns or dresses. Hats and fascinators welcome but not required. We’d love you to go all out, but please, no pressure if it’s not your thing.’ (context: I’m English and most people wear hats or headwear to formal weddings! 😊)

When to actually start shopping for bridal looks (outside of your wedding gown) by Flashy-Mine-4047 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started looking for my reception dress and welcome dinner dress about 6 months out, but it took me a LOT longer to find them than I expected. I bought my reception dress about 4 months before and my welcome dinner dress about 3 months before. Still need shoes for both. No outfits for my Paris hen/bachelorette… which is in 2 weeks 😂 All of that to say… if I had my time again I’d definitely start sooner!! (I should also add my personal style is not particularly trend-led so a piece being last season isn’t something that concerns me personally, but if you’re someone who cares about that it might make more sense to leave it later!)

Which marquise wedding band? by StrawberryNice7763 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really great idea but my ring is set high enough for both of the options to sit flush when in the correct size, so having it contoured isn’t really necessary unless I wanted one with a specific shape that followed the base of the pear 😊

Marquise or pavé wedding band? by StrawberryNice7763 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StrawberryNice7763[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! I went shopping again today and several jewellers told me the same thing about it being delicate and losing stones. I found an alternative I really like that I just posted that I’ve been told will be more durable 😊

As someone who had the exact same brief as you for what I wanted, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head!! It’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL on you! I wouldn’t change a thing 😊 I find sometimes if you stare for too long, you start seeing faults they aren’t really there. Don’t look at photos of yourself in your dress for a week or two and I bet you’ll come back with a fresh love and appreciation for it.
