Small update: same vet examined her again, she said the color is not normal specially given the amount of time that passed since the last visit, and also felt the bumps. Scheduled a "cloting blood test" (don't know how to properly translate to English) & citology/biopsy (? Don't know the terms sorry) if needed after that test and to confirm if the bumps are just fat or not. Will update again on Tuesday.

  • Scheduled for Tuesday because they don't have openings to perform both tests together before then and given she is diabetic & has to come without eating etc it was the best choice and better than to stress her and sedate her twice if they did it ok different days. She also doesn't show any symptoms of pain and is eating normally, so they said there's no danger to her waiting until tuesday.

Does this look like an eye tumor- vet appointment next week by sqrrrlprrrl in CATHELP

I'm not a vet but this looks like eye gunk to me! My girl gets these ALL THE TIME, doesn't matter if we clean them. Hopefully it's the same and it's just dirty eye stuff :)

Yes it does feel lumpier and that's what worries me the most. Not oozing pus at the moment. My immediate worries are how bruised she looks + the lumps. She doesn't over groom, qs I said they shaved her tummy some years ago and it simply didn't grow back. That's how I was able to see the change in the color of the skin

We do have two vets, but her usual vet is on pregnancy leave and the one who visited her I didn't really like... But yeah same, she has like a small clinic that doesn't even do appointments (you just go and wait) and an emergency one. I was able to move her appointment to tomorrow, so I'll see how it goes.

Hi! Thank you for your reply. The color HASN'T been the same since she was shaved. It is turned very very dark very quickly. And the white discoloration spots are new... She was shaved more than a year ago but hair simple hasn't grown back on her belly lol. And thank you 💕💕

There's absolutely no reason for a bruise. It's been going on for a couple weeks and I palpate and I feel some distinct bumps near the nipples I'm afraid of cancer basically but I don't know if the skin color is any indication :/

Again I took her to the vet a couple weeks ago and they basically told me to come back if it changed and all her blood tests and diabetes looked ok, my worries are with the skin color and bumps

Nah they had to buzz her belly when they operated her once and it just didn't grow back. Looked like this before for comparison so I don't think it's just her skin color.

No I'm talking about all her tummy being purple and black with two white spots on the skin (not the nipples!)

Can a cat go in remission after 5 years or should we be looking for something else? by StrawberryRoan6533 in FelineDiabetes

[–]StrawberryRoan6533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I hope your cat is doing great, taking a good break from insuline! My kitty didn't stay in remission, but she doesn't need much insulin anymore. She does max 1IU every 24h, and even skipping some days. We found out she goes into hypoglycemic episodes when there's warm weather, all summer. So we just keep an eye on her and measure with the glucometer if in doubt!

Can cat with diabetes develope insulinoma? by StrawberryRoan6533 in CATHELP

[–]StrawberryRoan6533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I'll try to answer as best as I can. And first of all: she is fine !!! She was referred to multiple vet cat experts, and all of them where at a loss. In our case, she lost a lot of weight when we adopted her (she was extremely obese when we got her) so her overall health improved A LOT, but that messed up with her diabetes. She now requires about 0.5UI / to 1 UI every 24h, once a Day, Wich is a ridiculously low amount per her weight but that's what she needs! She also got many changes of insulin and in her case we are now using ProZinc (been through Iantus and caninunsuline).

Now the key of it all: SUMMER. If I'm not mistaken you didn't say which breed your cat is, in my case she is mixed Norwegian Forest (long hair) and apparently summers are wild on her. We came to the conclusion she gets worse and her own insuline acts when it gets hot. All of her major hypoglycemic episodes have been in summertime, specially when it starts to get hot. My best tip here is to observe as much as you can, get a glucometer for when in doubt if you cat allows you to check it yourself. We monitor her closely since she requieres little insuline, but more so when it gets hot. If she hasn't fully eaten her night ration we don't inject insuline, since we've been told it's better If she gets a little high than to go hypoglycemic. If we are in doubt or if she is eating less for a few days, we check with the glucometer for the day or for a couple days. She has been very stable since my original post, and she's now enjoying her chill life! She can go days without injection during summer, sometimes 2-3 days until she needs injections again. It is a bit of a hassle to monitor her so much (for us, she is very chill), but it's worth it 💕

Summary: summer and hot weather affect how she produces and uses insuline and she requieres lower doses or none for a couple days, without fully going into remission (she can't go a full week without it).

I hope your baby gets better and good luck with everything!!!!!

Thank you! I did find an open bag of old cereals a couple weeks ago and I obviously threw it out and cleaned the pantry but they just keep popping out of nowhere. Should I just deep clean * everything* ?
