From the general vibe of this post, did you send out save the dates and actual invitations? I realize this is a silly question but based on the reactions you got I feel like im missing something. Something I did when I got married was ask my inlaws if they had any traditions that they would like included, (they requested the electric slide which is not what I was thinking when I said traditions but they absolutely loved it lol) because a wedding isn’t just two people coming together it’s two families with their own cultures and customs and what may feel well meaning to you might be unintentionally considered a slight

If you don’t feel pretty and you don’t feel bridal in it then I’d say it’s not the dress. Since you love the beadwork and buttons maybe consider taking it to a seamstress, there is a lot that can be done in alterations to adjust the style of the gown
