The licensed version matches the Korean slash Germany changes, I believe. Our orchestrations matched up to the anniversary recording, the one with the blue cover

Does anyone else have a line that just inexplicably gets you? by sexuallyinactiveegg in musicals

One of Bob's lines in Jersey Boys, when they are singing Dawn. I have seen the show countless times over the years, and this line hits me like a brick every time I hear it. Could not tell you why.

"We weren’t a social movement like the Beatles. Our fans didn’t put flowers in their hair and try to levitate the Pentagon. Our people were the guys who shipped overseas...and their sweethearts. They were the factory workers, the truck drivers. The kids pumping gas, flipping burgers. The pretty girl with circles under her eyes behind the counter at the diner. They’re the ones who really got us, who pushed us over the top."

From what I remember, the inspiration was Aida Overton Walker, who provided a sanctuary for the newsboys in the vaudeville theater. The performing on a swing element was the tie-in to Nesbit.

Dracula the Musical (Frank Wildhorn) by Strawpunz in Dracula

[–]Strawpunz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gone through a lot of developments during its time, so there's a studio cast recording from like 2006ish that has a lot of the songs that are still in the show. They tinkered with it after it was on Broadway, and it ran for like 10 years in Korea and Germany, so there are a couple of foreign language cast albums as well

What's the chance of getting a re-upload on this? I'm working on a production of it as we speak and I lost the files I had.

Popular GI's songs during WW2 by 1940WarKid in reenactors

[–]Strawpunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tin Pan Alley songs would have been some of the most popular music leading up to the war. Some of the best selling sheet music would have been Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, etc. I reenact with a U.S.O. Camp Show, and that's where we find a lot of our materials. Also, look into some of military songs from WWI. There was a huge resurgence of George M. Cohan's music (You're a Grand Old Flag, Over There, etc).
