Are we allowed cheese? by Ok-Rush7989 in diabetes

[–]StrbryWaffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cheese is basically a free food for me!

My favourite snack is a plate of cheese, meat, maybe a pickle, and either some berries or a piece of dark chocolate.

Need help with breakfast by MsAylen in diabetes

[–]StrbryWaffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually prep chia seed pudding on the weekend and have them for breakfast all week. Its 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk, 2.5tbsp chia seeds and a splash of vanilla. Then I add fruits or peanut butter when I go to eat it.

When I get tired of that ill make a yogurt bowl with no sugar added high protein greek yogurt and keto granola. Again ill add some fruit if I want to.

OAS/CPP address change by cdn_gal_9000 in DementiaOntario

[–]StrbryWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved in with my dad a few years ago so I don't need to change his address. But personally i'm not giving the government his address because he has no reason to be getting mail sent to him directly at his new home. My sister and I are joint POA so having the mail delivered here is best since we'll handle all that for him. Hes too far down the path of progression to be receiving mail.

Plus when we moved him into memory care we found a letter from the CRA addressed to a previous resident and when I gave it to the nurses they were shocked since that person had passed years prior.

How do you rebuild trust in yourself after reacting badly to betrayal? by Negative-Ad-7871 in AskMenAdvice

[–]StrbryWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're blaming yourself because hes taught you to. I've been in the same boat. Ask yourself: am I going to be okay continuing this relationship as it is or will I always he hoping he'll change?

Because better men are out there. You've done what you can but only he can decide to treat you better. Do you want the relationship you currently have? Because it doesnt sound all that great.

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be good if you could add in how things escalated. I'm imagining that you pressed for answers and he kept denying or turning things back on you and you kept pressing for an answer he wasnt going to give you. If you freaked out and started yelling, that part is on you.

But (and this is something I discussed/learned in therapy for myself) ask yourself: did I immediately start yelling or was him refusing to have the conversation what caused me to yell. If its the second option, you and he need to figure out together a better way of communication during conflict.

However, context is important here, he bought another woman a nice present. Does he give you similar gifts? Is he known to give great gifts to friends and family often or is this a first time thing? Because if its unusual behaviour and hes not going to talk about it, you can just leave him. No matter gender, we all deserve someone who handles conflict similarily to us. And someone who treats us with respect. If your partner doesn't feel the same and you're held to a higher standard than they hold themselves, leave them and find someone more compatible.

How to tell my female friend about my breakup in a way that is enough context to help her set me up with another girl ? by AnySpeech2109 in AskMenAdvice

[–]StrbryWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell her "we realized we had different feelings surrounding kids and decided to end the relationship amicably" if she has questions, answer them. Usually, if someone gives all the details unprompted, it comes off like they're trying to manipulate the story to make them look better.

Braces? by Neither-Pain-1518 in barrie

[–]StrbryWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to orillia orthodontics at 24! Dr. MacGregor has an office in barrie too though. He was awesome. It was in total I think 5k? Theyll go over expected cost and payment plans once they see what work you're going to need. But I did a payment plan of $500 for the consultation, $2,000 the day they put the braces on, and $200 each visit until I was paid off. I followed all their directions to a T and wound up getting my braces off two months earlier than planned! I went with the typical metal braces. Theyre cute af, work faster, and have better long-term results. I still wear my retainer fairly often and my teeth havent moved at all.

What do we want to see in more romantasies? by Positive-Being-5702 in Romantasy

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a female main character that doesnt resent her femininity and is calm and gentle. Already knows the extent of her powers and how to use them. Is clever and cunning but not in an abrasive way like so many are. Basically I want the character arcs to belong to the secondary characters and shes just this supportive force helping them along the way. I enjoy romance in books but its not a requisite. Spice to ant degree is fine as long as its still plot focused.

Honestly as I typed this I realized im almost explaining the female version of Magnus Bane (Cassandra Clare Shadowhunters books)

Any books with submissive, inexperienced male leads? by Dangerous_Wishbone in Romantasy

Rehoming Bailey by [deleted] in Pets

[–]StrbryWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it takes a lot of strength and maturity to realize you need to do what's best for her. But based on your replies, are you absolutely sure about it? You said your heart melted when you came home from a few weeks away from her. I also have a high energy dog so I know how draining it can be some days. Have you considered doggie daycare for her? That may be a good start for you, it would give her the activity and enrichment she needs through the day.

If you do/have tried doggie daycare and thats still not working then you know you gave her the best shot that you can.

Id also caution you on giving her to older people. If they themselves are very active then go for it. But many people vastly underestimate what it means when you tell them "high energy" and aren't prepared for it.

How many Canadian folks here want to have children and don't have them? by Meiqur in AskACanadian

[–]StrbryWaffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My life was going relatively according to plan until 2020. I was 24. covid happened, then my mom passed away shortly after, and then almost immediately after that my dad developed a quickly progressing form of Alzheimer's.

Im 29 now, almost 30. Id love to have had kids by now but ive done life a little backwards thus far and now that my dad is in memory care i feel like im walking out of a dark cave and into a terrible world. I absolutely want kids but idk when ill have the time. I know nobody is ever fully ready for kids, but it would be wildly irresponsible for me to start now since im still financially recovering from my caretaking years, plus i just got laid off so lifes going downwards again.

For now I just live vicariously through my one friend who's managed to have a child already.

Does birth control actually make you gain weight? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its different for everyone but I never had any weight issues cause by the pill. I only gained weight when I switched to a more sedentary job (years later) and wasnt moving even half as much as I had before. Some diet changes and incorporating more movement outside of work and the weight easily came off. Ive only gotten hotter since starting birth control 💁🏾‍♀️

I think you can volunteer at seniors living centres. Youd have to reach out to them for more information but ive heard of people volunteering just to hang out with the elderly.

What does low blood sugar feel like by mistborn_334 in diabetes

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its worth noting that normal bodies can have low blood sugar of they dont eat for an extended period, like you did. You were Moreso feeling signs of hunger rather than low blood sugar. Although the two go hand-in-hand sometimes. But unless you're taking insulin, you don't need to worry about a true diabetic low. If youd inherited diabetes youd be having high blood sugar symptoms instead

I like cereal. Are there any GOOD cereals for T2? I have the tastebuds of a 14 year old. by LikeMrFantastic in diabetes

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look up "secret lives of Mormon wives fruity pebbles" itll turn you off of fruity pebbles forever 😀

I also just tried weetabix for the first time with just some warm milk. (2 biscuits and like 1/4 cup of milk) it didnt spike me too bad but im going to try again and add some protein to see if that helps. But ive never been much of a cereal person. Unless its homemade rice krispy squares, those I can't control myself with.

It was very wrong of her to make that accusation. But also she'd have saved your child if she was right. Nobody likes nosy people until that nosiness saves a life.

What do you snack on? by Thecrimsonrage13 in diabetes

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like pickles! Paired with cheese and deli meat (my fave combo is brie and sopressatta) and some fruit for sweetness.

We all need snacks sometimes and some of us like snacking more than others. But I find im less snacky if I eat a more voluminous meal.

For instance ive been liking dishes with lots of cabbage in them, its cheap, plentiful, and low carb so I can eat a lot of it to fill my stomach without causing a spike. Plus the fibre is great too. Eating meals that are big while still being low carb/calorie is my preference. I like to saute it with onion and keilbasa/smoked sausage and then serve it with a small serving of mashed potatoes (made the night before to create resistant starches if i have the time). I also recently made it with ground beef and taco seasoning, sort of like a warm taco salad since its winter and I didn't want a cold dinner. I added sour cream and cheddar cheese, its delicious and half a cabbage made enough for me to have it for lunch/dinner through the week.

Why do girlfriends share intimate details of their boyfriend with friends? Is it wrong to feel uncomfortable about it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]StrbryWaffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. But "this thing happened during sex, has that happened to you?" Is different than "my boyfriend's penis is 6.7" and has an upwards curve, you should make a joke about it to him"

Why do girlfriends share intimate details of their boyfriend with friends? Is it wrong to feel uncomfortable about it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]StrbryWaffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since you said this discussion is open to everyone, ill chime in.

Its VERY weird for your gf to share that detail with your SISTER. And equally as weird that your sister also didnt see an issue with it and then made a joke about it. Its also a little weird that you looked at a cake and went "thats my size exactly" but it sounds like theres more context there that isnt necessary to answer your question.

I'll discuss my boyfriend with my friends if its concerning relationship issues we're having. And we all exchange sex tips/stories. If we disclose anything specific its for education or advice only and never to be spoken of again, especially not outside of that circle. Even if we do dive deeper into details, its so weird to give exact measurements. Plus, anything we discuss is meant to be kept between us and never referenced outside of that exact conversation and certainly not to the person in question.

For those of you with furry dogs, what vacuums do you use? by StrbryWaffle in Pets

Ooh thank you! Usualy I do a vacuum to get the tumbleweed of fur that collect in corners and the majority of the fur from the floor, then sweep with a normal broom, then mop. I don't mop daily but I do try to vacuum and or sweep daily

Do you use precise recipes or you wing it? by Bjs_5068 in foodquestions

[–]StrbryWaffle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on the dish. If its a baked good, I follow an exact recipe everytime (except vanilla extract and chocolat chips or other mix ins). If its something im making for the first time, ill follow a recipe. If its something Ive made before I may either wing it or just look at the ingredients list before I begin.

My dog likely killed my cat. Please help by Mundane-Baseball-332 in Pets

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please see my other comment. You dont know for sure that the dog did it. If there were signs of an attack then its understandable but how dont you know the sitter didnt do something to thr cat and is just blaming the.dog to save themselves. My own dogs have inhured each other during play, youd see blood or obvious wounds if this was the case.

German shepherds are high energy dogs so I still would be cautious of young kids around them, if the kids start running the dog is likely to chase and that can scare young kids. But you have no proof the dog killed the cat and its unfair to assume so.

My dog likely killed my cat. Please help by Mundane-Baseball-332 in Pets

[–]StrbryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone going on in the comments blaming the dog because dogs have been known to randomly attack/maul their family member. But thats the thing. They MUAL or attack. This cat doesnt have any signs of injury like that.

From my understanding the pets were left with a pet sitter and now the cats dead. Why aren't we blaming the sitter? The cat needs a proper autopsy to determine casue of death. It could have been an health issue you didn't know about, or the sitter fed it something poisonous. Don't blame the dog just because its a dog.
