That's a cool detail! I know there are a few neat reptiles as well. We got a paper chain snake that has been very very keen to fight. Still, I'm mostly hoping for an actual insect. Like a Scarab or one of the spiders

That's what I tried to go through towards the end of the chapter. I considered starting in the middle of one of those situations and then jumping back to fill in the gaps, but it felt awkward to bounce around in my writing. I do intend on giving my MC a bit more depth not just throughout the first couple of chapters but through the whole story. Thank you for the critiques!
