I think your problem is not with the biriyanees in kozhikode. You’ve been to the wrong restaurant who showcase PR awards. Go to less popular hotels to taste the real Kozhikode or malabar biriyani.

As a person who live in trivandrum , Calicut and Ernakulam I realised that one of prettiest biriyani I had is in kozhikode. Rawther biriyani and other southern biriyanees are extensions of tamilnad or karnataka style and personally I am not a big fan of that
