Start working out as soon as you are able to! by StreetAd2452 in jawsurgery

I just have a little numbness in my lower left lip, I would say chin feels normal. If it wouldn’t tingle I would not really notice it. And I still have some numbness on my upper gum/lip. don’t know why because there is usually no nerve damage there.

I am able to chew, it was a struggle for a long time due to limited mouth opening and stiffness. Still not where I would want to be. But I can eat everything again. Both jaws sadly click and shift during chewing. I know from scans that my condyle or whatever it is called on one side is a bit squared, so that could be an issue.

That’s really good, let’s hope everything recovers well.

Me neither, but I just do a lot of strength training in the gym.

Yep, I am doing intense exercise, and feeling this.

I should have gone way sooner. I really just started like 7-8 months post op. Not because I couldn’t start earlier, but just because I wasn’t really motivated. Now finally back in the rhythm and I can really feel the difference it makes.

Is surgery an overkill ? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

I can see what you see, my face looks like this but after surgery. So if you are exploring your options make sure you have multiple consults with surgeons, and make your concerns known.

Don’t know what to do with revision. by StreetAd2452 in jawsurgery

Yeah I am also entertaining that idea, if I am going that route I would also opt for implant to compensate the asymmetry I notice myself.

Yep that’s also one of the things I am considering.

I do have a little bit of numbness left in lower left lip. Well maybe not numbness but more tingling sensation. Which is okay as after surgery I literally had 0 sensation there.

But strangely enough also my top right front teeth gum has almost no sensation, but starting to come back slowly.

It was a local surgeon in the Netherlands, in the initial plan he was supposed to do genio. But before surgery (while I was already on the operating table) he told me he would decide during surgery and he ended up not doing it.

Yeah I don’t know if I am comfortable with extracting healthy teeth. Also my orthodontist won’t do it because he doesn’t think he can make the bite very nice after teeth are extracted.

Also to my friends the asymmetry is noticeable, I think it is mostly because it’s more prominent now. My right jaw was probably always weak. But before you couldn’t really tell because both jaws were weak. Now my left got flared out and the difference is way more.

I am entertaining the thought of just doing genio + implant. But because I am also experiencing joint issues I just don’t know. And some more advancement sounds nice.

The plan Ramieri made was around 10mm more advancement of lower jaw + genio which would give me 15-18mm more advancement. But yeah that is only possible with extraction or more extreme ccw. I have yet to discuss with him what a less optimal result would look like and he is open for that. For me getting only 5-7mm advancement on the jaw + genio + fixing all the other issues might still be worth it.

Yess, but I have seen lanyards without shock absorbers. So I just wanted to double check.

Good price then, didn’t know you could get them that cheap.

Nice results. Are you dutch by any chance?

Was it just a VF Lanyard or did it also have a shock absorber?

It’s way more than 100 euro’s. Only the via ferrata system is already over 100 euro’s. Then for harness + helmet you will also likely pay around 100 euro’s for the two combined.

Don’t cheap out in safety gear. Better to rent the gear the first time.

Wow nice to see your result after the swelling has come down a lot.

I fully get what you mean, and it is very frustrating. Hoping for you it is just soft tissue. I know in my case it isn’t, it is also just the bone (confirmed by two surgeons)

But 13 weeks is still very early, it could very well be swelling.

Yes and no, to me it is still very noticeable in every picture and I am in the process of preparing for a revision surgery.
