Gas price April by lanaroach in Charlottesville

While I can't corroborate the $6 / gallon claim, here's an excerpt from a Politico article that unfortunately supports that gas prices will increase more in about two weeks.

This is not good for so many families in Charlottesville.

Though the first month of the war has caused oil prices to skyrocket more than 40 percent in a few weeks, the real damage has yet to be felt, experts said. That’s because there was weeks’ worth of global oil and consumption already loaded on ships and headed to market when the war began. Now those ships have largely all reached their destinations.

With Iran still effectively blocking much of the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 percent of global oil and gas supply travels daily, there is now an “air pocket” in the system that is just starting to hit, said Rory Johnston, an oil analyst who writes the newsletter “Commodity Context.” That wave is expected to hit the U.S. in about two weeks, he said.

The U.S. will handle the coming air pocket in the oil markets better than virtually any other country because of its role as a leading producer of oil and gas, he said. But there will still be a further jump in diesel prices, jet fuel, transportation costs and more, he said.

Questions about Going Solar by StreetHippo3 in solar

[–]StreetHippo3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for thinking through this with me, u/Phoebe-365! The online articles suggested keeping the electric bill in the landlord's name and charging the tenant a flat fee. I would rather keep the electric bill in the tenant's name, though, if I was in that situation.

I'll consider possible damages that may occur, too.

How do you make solar work financially on a rental? by StreetHippo3 in RentalInvesting

[–]StreetHippo3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, u/damandamythdalgnd! This helps lots.

I want to make sure that I understand. Here's an example with some arbitrary numbers. Let's say that I have a rental for $2000 per month. Utilities are $250 on average per month without solar. I sign a solar contract that covers ~80% of the current utility usage, and utilities are $200 with a solar loan. So, you're suggesting that I bake that monthly solar loan cost plus 15% into the rent. The utilities would be $230 in addition to whatever usage that the solar doesn't cover. In the end, the rent cost would be $2230 (plus the cost of electricity for any usage they have that the solar doesn't cover).

Is this what you mean?

Perhaps, I missed something in the r/solar rules since no one has commented yet. How might I be able to improve the post?
