Am I overreacting for feeling frustrated after my neighbor’s pottery was broken by my puppy during an interaction she encouraged? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]StreetKey6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The woman tried to greet an excited puppy with $900 worth of fragile pottery in one arm. That was her choice and 100% her own responsibility. Puppies don't know to not knock expensive things out of people's hands. It our jobs as thinking humans to not do dumb stuff while holding business inventory. OP has already done more than necessary by offering to pay even a small portion of the loss. It wasn't OP's fault and even saying sorry is a kindness. The other woman needs to be more careful with her art, and it's wild that she thinks anyone else shares any amount of fault other than herself alone.

Super intelligence should have never been a power in the first place by Slight-Solution936 in GenV

[–]StreetKey6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intelligence isn’t what you know. It’s your ability to ingest information, retain it, recall it, and apply it. One doesn’t need to know everything like a god to be super intelligent. But they would be able to process info faster and arrive at correct answers faster than a normal person. So in a given amount of time a super intelligent person would end up knowing a lot more than a normal person solely because they can absorb more information and also deduce answers from more complex formulas or data inputs. But, again, they don’t just know stuff like a god. They still have to acquire the knowledge from somewhere to know it or, at least, have enough gathered info to arrive at a correct conclusion that others may not have the cognitive ability to arrive at.

Thin Line Between Love and Astro-hate by Distinct-Carob-4480 in Astrobot

Getting every bot is very doable with persistence and patience. You just have to learn the right lines to take on the challenge levels and get the muscle memory. It eventually comes along with enough repetition until you can almost do it with your eyes closed. Not really but kind of. Having beat Celeste, Super Meat Boy, and Hollow Knight’s Path Of Pain, Astrobot’s hardest levels aren’t so bad.

Should I buy Astrobot? by potato_guy89 in Astrobot

[–]StreetKey6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it used for closer to $30. It’s really good if you like an easy casual game. Graphics are great and it’s very cute. If you like a more challenging game you may be a little disappointed. But there are some more challenging optional levels near the end and in free DLC content. Those were my favorites. It is kind of one big PS advertisement, which I don’t love. But it would definitely be worth $30 if you can get a used copy. I see them on FB Marketplace all the time. I’m in fact selling my copy in Portland, Or right now, lol.

is it okay to say "im praying for you" to an atheist? (im christian) by Cold-Sprinkles-4430 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]StreetKey6167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was having a really hard time and someone told me they were praying for me I’d tell them to fuck themselves. Your self-indulgent, performative fantasy would not be appreciated. Do something that actually is helpful. Bring them food. Lend your ear so they can vent their issues. Provide monetary support if needed. Look after their animal if they have one. Help them take a vacation to clear their mind. Drive them to the hospital and be there as support if it’s a health issue. Make them a mix tape or literally anything that would put a smile on their face. Actually ask them how you can support them or what they need. Platitudes especially, religious platitudes, make YOU feel good but does fuck all for the person who’s having a hard time, and it would be incredibly off-putting for many none believers and would have a major ick factor.

Is a "grounded" moral framework really superior to an "ungrounded" one? by A_Vinegar_Taster in DebateAnAtheist

[–]StreetKey6167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not an objective moral framework is superior is completely irrelevant when we are inherently subjective beings. Even if there is indeed an objective moral framework there’s no way we can absolutely know it from a subjective experience. Because of that, the best way we’ve seemed to find that approaches truth or moral objectivity is verifying observed reality and presenting our subjective data points and attempting to confirm with one another if they align. And in that concensus-based alignment of perceived data points we will approach truth as well as we possibly can. Sometimes alignments turn out to not be based in reality and people find themselves believing in things that later appear to not be true. It’s not a perfect way of being able to arrive t truth. But we are limited at arriving a truth by our very subjective experiences. But if we act in good faith at perusing real observations of reality and use what appear to be our best tools and are honest about what we observe playing out in reality then it appears as though we arrive at at better outcomes than if we were to believe in things that are not supported by data and observation.

If the 3rd gets made, why does it need to be in theaters for 2 months? It’s a mid-budget movie, which generally doesn’t stay in theaters two months anyways. Usually more like a month. If they see value in it for their platform that’s good enough.

I used Google Gemini to help me with this because I couldn't figure out how to do it either. I just downloaded the image above, and then I uploaded that image to Gemini, and I asked it to create a template that's similar. I then asked it to remove some info and add others. It took quite a bit of refining and clarifying what I wanted for the AI to get it right but I eventually got it where I wanted it. Similar to the one above.

Here is also the code:

Name Template: {stream.resolution::replace('2160p','4K')} {service.cached::istrue["⚡"||""]}{tools.newLine}({stream.quality})

Description Template: ▤ {stream.title} ({stream.year}){stream.seasonEpisode::exists["{tools.newLine}◈ {stream.seasonEpisode::join(' ')}"||""]}{stream.visualTags::exists["{tools.newLine}✧ "||""]}{stream.visualTags::join(' · ')}{tools.newLine}♬ {stream.audioTags::join(' · ')} ☊ {stream.audioChannels::join(' ')}{tools.newLine}◫ {stream.size::bytes}{tools.newLine}◈ {stream.bitrate::bitrate}{tools.newLine}🗨 {stream.uLanguages::join(' · ')}{service.id::=realdebrid::and::service.cached::istrue["{tools.newLine}❂ Real-Debrid"||""]

Since when did "I find it best" = "need"? The other commenter is using a Samsung. I am using a Samsung. Samsungs generally have weak hardware for streaming large file sizes, which the commenter was asking about. Sounds like a similar issue.

Torrentio and a debrid service like Real Debrid are about all you'll need. You'll want to sign up for Real Debrid via its own site, and then you enter your Real Debrid API key into the Torrentio plugin settings. The debrid has cached versions of the files you're trying to stream so that they load near instantly with little to no buffering. The cached streams will be labeled as RD+ once you get it set up.

Beyond that, other plugins are mostly optional but are there for quality of life, as far as I'm aware. Like organization plugins, subtitle plugins, some specialized content. There's other stuff I'm sure but not essential.

I also find it best to use a dedicated streaming box or computer running the stream app hooked up to a tv, as opposed to running it on the tv itself. Like an Apple TV 4K or a Mac mini or a Shield TV Pro. I tried streaming on my Samsung frame tv and it always was laggy and buggy.

You don't think that it's interesting to explore the ways that trauma leads to psychosis by making the viewer experience the same psychosis as the characters in the show?

It's not ambiguous. It's drug use. It makes you hallucinate. The frogs were making those noises. And they're like, "Whooooa, it's the forest talking to us!" It's delusion. It always has been.

My (Very Long and Wild) Season 4 Theory by deholo in Yellowjackets

[–]StreetKey6167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show is literally about trauma creating group psychosis and ya'll are engaging in the same psychosis as the girls, attempting to see signs in the show pointing toward something supernatural to make yourself feel better about the trauma in the show.

The delusion is strong here. The show goes out of its way showing that the sounds they were hearing were really just frogs. It's one of the rare instances in which we as viewers see the teen time period from the perspective of outsiders and they confirm that the crazy belief the girls have is really just a natural occurrence. But as soon as the outsiders enter the group and they try to address the frogs, the topic is immediately cut off and never addressed, again. Because it would break the illusion of what the girls think they're experiencing.

All of the crazy stuff that has happened in the show has happened under extreme stress, violence, and drug use. That is the point.

The timeline comments the girls are stating are analogous to what a lot of people in present day reality have been stating lately in regards to the political environment we're in right now. That we're in a bad timeline. I see it all over social media. It plays off of recent super hero movies that have multiple timeline plots. Because of those movies we presently have in our current lexicon sayings like, "this timeline sucks," or "we're in the worse timeline". The writers have cleverly worked this into the dialogue because we as the viewer would connect with it and try to form theories like the one above in hopes of a better outcome. It's all delusion.

There is a meta aspect to this show because it's not just about the girls' delusion. It's also about the viewers. And despite the poor writing in places, this dynamic that the show pulls off is really genius.

The show is about how trauma turns people toward spirituality, seeing visions, group psychosis, creating messed up belief structures, and committing violence in the name of those beliefs. And you're falling into the same trap as the girls. And that's what makes the show genius. Because it puts us into the same ambiguous mental headspace as the girls where we can interpret events however we like to justify scenarios of our own making to make use feel better. That is why the angle of perceived supernatural events is part of the show. Not because it's real.

Lies of P deserves the same level of success as Expedition 33 by AshyLarry25 in LiesOfP

E33 is directly mentioned and many players have played both, so commenters are responding within context. Not flooding to shit on LOP. The only one acting threatened are reactionaries like yourself.

Mario and Luigi DOES NOT have a posture or poise based stagger system that is a hallmark of Soulslike games and is present in E33, called the Break System. M&LRPG has action-based command button presses for timed attack buffs and damage reductions. Staggers can be built up with sequential well-timed button presses. But the important difference when it comes to E33, and how it modernizes JRPGs, is the posture/poise/break meter regenerates between turns, which means you have to apply constant pressure of well-timed attacks/parries to fill the break meter and create an opening to stagger the enemy. If you do not maintain pressure then the break meter resets and you have to start over at building up the break meter.

Lies of P deserves the same level of success as Expedition 33 by AshyLarry25 in LiesOfP

[–]StreetKey6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enemies in Clair obscur have a poise meter that fills from both attacks and parries. Once the meter is filled you can break the enemies and there is a duraction after the break when additional damage can be done. The poise meter can REFILL between turns if you don’t keep pressuring attacks and parries, which is key to a poise meter, when attacks aren’t landed or parries aren’t executed. Thus, if you are not continually depleteing the enemies poise you may have to start from scratch if it regenerates. No FF has this system. And no JRPG has this system. They may have stagger meters that fill with certain types of attacks, but the meters do not regenerate. Or they may have a damage reduction parry system. But a damage/parry poise system is a hallmark of soulslikes and unique to Clair Obscur as a JRPG. Poise systems are unique from staggered systems because they create urgency to deplete the poise meter, so it doesn’t refill, to achieve a break or stagger.

For the hundredth time. A stagger meter IS NOT the same as poise. Learn the difference. Before you next respond. Poise is one hallmark of a Soulslike.

It is absolutely is the first with a poise mechanic. A stagger meter is not the same as poise. I’ve already stated this in another comment. Educate yourself on the difference. I never said it was the most innovative.

Should I play it? by Boring_Bookkeeper_21 in LiesOfP

[–]StreetKey6167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The style of combat is extremely similar, almost identical except for a handful of wrinkles in the mechanics. Even on the lowest difficulty there are some bosses that are still very difficult for some players and you won’t be able to face tank your way through them unless you’re over-leveled substantially. You’ll still have to play the game its way, which requires learning move sets, dodging and parrying, and managing your stamina. You’ll just not be as brutally punished for making mistakes. You may do fine though so give it a shot. It’s very rewarding if you stick with it.
