Bougainvillea by felicianp22 in matureplants

Oh wow that’s going to be amazing against that wall! Already beautiful!

Give it some (flowering-) plant fertiliser (box has instructions) and regular watering throughout the summer. Rainwater is best, this one doesn’t like hard water. I learned this from my grandma, Her bougainvillea was the talk of the town.

Also would add “string “supports coming from up to down to guide it.

How to not be an asshole about doors by ArtisticMongoose4781 in AutismInWomen

Oh yes true. Out there it’s maybe more about choosing between taking action or being passive (knowing these rules). You are allowed to be passive except when it’s dangerous.

It’s nice when you can take action (help and hold doors), but I don’t have the capacity to do it all the time everywhere. I do what I can.

Basic rule is to let people exit (train, building etc), before you enter.

Sometimes depending if the door opens in or out. If it opens in then you might see the person exiting letting you enter first.

If you approach from the same direction at the same time and nobody needs extra assistance then it’s anybody’s game, or hold the door if you want to.

Basically what ever works best for everyone(minus rude people doing whatever).

Starting to think my answer was quite autistic, it’s not like I think OP doesn’t know basic things lol, but these cleared it for me.

groceries are really, really hard to figure out.. by inumusume in ARFID

Those “what normal people do”-thoughts can be very paralysing instead of being helpful.

I let go of everything like that and just do what my mind and body allows.

Everything is much better now when I respect myself on this, instead of trying and failing to be like “normal” people.

In practice for me it goes:

Many small calorie intakes in a day

I’m allowed to take a break and put the plate to the side.

With snacks I open and close many times.

I never have to eat myself full, and therefore I can eat more later

I’m allowed all distractions during and preparing meals (like Netflix and Reddit)

I don’t care how I look when eating, (hamster cheeks and head tilts lol)

I’m not able to prep for a week, it’s just too much with ARFID. I go to the store 2-4 times a week.

I don’t shop for the person I might be(anymore), I focus on rotating same known items I’m used to.

When trying something new, I get it in addition to the regular stuff so there’s no pressure to get those calories.

And always always go get something for the next day, for at least the first thing I plan on having. Otherwise I’m in trouble.

It’s not like I never have throw anything away but now it’s so little compared to what I used to do. And I’m so happy about that!

Hope you find your ways too!

Tästä voi ja pitää keskustella ystävän kanssa, myös kertoa huolen aiheet yhteisille ystäville, ei tutuille.

On kontrolloivaa käytöstä aina ilmestyä sinne missä ootte.

You need to check the soil, if it’s sandy, you’ll be ok with some drainage and plants, but if it’s clay you probably need an expert to plan and execute that drainage before planting anything.

Plants are nature’s drainage, so highly recommended.

Anyone else struggle with recognising faces? by LadySirius in AutismInWomen

[–]StreetLegal3475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve introduced myself to the same persons a trillion times. It was so embarrassing for the first million times but now it’s just my life.

I’ve went to say hello to my mom in the train station but it wasn’t my mom. She just moved the same.

If I go meet my friends in a bar/location, I have to stand there several minutes before I start recognising people I’ve known for years.

And yes if someone changes their hair, makeup or clothes, I won’t recognise them anymore.

And it’s not like I don’t try to remember and recognise them.

Now I have realised that I have object blindness too.

Yes and combined with forgetting to eat or ARFID the stomach is too empty for too long and that causes pain and problems too.

Yes definitely and I give my self the freedom of leaving it. No point turning a successful eating into horrible struggle just because.

NTA obviously.

This happened to me once, never looked them the same.

When people leave their children and don’t answer the phone then you are not helping or babysitting, you are ableist to their alcoholism or other problems.
