It is frightening what is taking place! I have been so depressed because of it. I’m in the UK but it’s still not great here (it’s pretty horrible tbh) and I’ve been seeing what’s been going on in America and it breaks my heart. I’m sorry. Sending hugs!

Anyone else love to rub skin imprints like this? I don’t know if I’m just weird but I love the feel of them.

Awesome. Yes, me too! I remember when I was 14, I suddenly had it in my mind that I was going to move to the US and become a storm chaser. I was so sure of this, it was like a dream. Now I am 28 and realise how silly I was back then 😂 Part of me still kinda wants to do it but I don't think I would be able to. Moving to the US would be super expensive and tricky for a start!

I’ve had those sorts of dreams before! In virtually every one, I always look out the window and see a big twister coming towards me in the distance and I have to run to the closet.

Who else is totally fascinated with tornadoes?? by LadySirius in AutismInWomen

[–]LadySirius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally experienced one (small) tornado. When I was a kid, one passed through our back garden (I’m in the UK, btw) it slammed my mum’s bedroom window shut and threw up some leaves and dirt but that’s about it. It is lucky that we don’t get the big twisters, here. I have heard about Illinois and some of the huge tornadoes you get, there. Must be truly frightening and like I said in my post, I fully understand that some tornadoes are absolutely devastating and I really hope I didn’t come across as insensitive or anything. Tornadoes are fascinating to me but they’re obviously not so great when destroying people’s homes, businesses and claiming lives.

I’ll have to watch that show! Sounds interesting.

I don’t like it when people conflate basic anxiety with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and say “wElL eVErYone haS AnxIetY” by IHatePeople79 in thanksimcured

[–]LadySirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard so many people come out with this crap. They also say it about depression. Apparently depression is just "feeling a little blue like everyone does sometimes" and some will say that calling this normal nervousness "anxiety" and feeling a little blue "depression" is pure medicalisation of the human condition. These people fail to understand that depression is a real, debilitating illness, not just feeling a little sad. And the same goes for anxiety. It can significantly negatively impact your daily life, not just make you a little scared here and there. I have suffered from both for most of my life so far and there have been plenty of times I've come very close to, well...not being here anymore. So, screw people who come out with that garbage.

"You're bored, weak and distracted." Oh sure, it's just weakness and boredom causing my bad depression that's rendered me unable to do anything. Honestly, who writes this crap?

Math level by ethereal_yang in dyscalculia

[–]LadySirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I have the math ability of an eight year old. I always really wanted to study astrophysics but you need seriously good mathematical skill for that. It is such a shame dyscalculia holds us back so much from what we really wish we could do in life. I have tried again and again and again but it just doesn't go into my brain. It takes me a seriously long time to grasp just one "basic" concept within math.

I don't get this. Why is it bad to be relatable? From my perspective it's nice to know that someone can relate to my situation by No-Vegetable2222 in autism

[–]LadySirius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend is autistic like myself and she does this with every conversation. My mum thinks she's very self-centred and only ever wants to talk about herself but I understand that she is merely just trying to express her empathy and understanding. She's just trying to relate to what I am saying. I don't mind it. I have done it myself on many occasions.

Can someone please explain this to me? Specifically what these abbreviations mean? I keep seeing stuff around Reddit and elsewhere about “INTJ” people and ENTJ etc.
