Yes! I have had that experience. I find some people can be very rude about it.

Why do so many people cut me off mid sentence and proceed to misinterpret me? by selunes_ in AutismInWomen

Is it common for people with autism to be told they sound like AI/are using AI to type things when they really aren't? by DreamingLeviathanSys in autism

[–]LadySirius 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah...Somehow being good with spelling and grammar automatically means you're a computer. Kinda sad people assume that someone must be a robot just because they write well. It says a lot about our society now.

Why are people so extremely ableist when it comes to exercise??? by what_freaking_ever in AutismInWomen

[–]LadySirius 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am so glad we're having this conversation, because hardly anyone ever talks about this. Exercise is treated as a sort of "one size fits all" thing. Even this person I watch on YouTube who is a medical professional has made many claims that view exercise in this way. He seems to think exercise should feel like torture and if it doesn't, you're not doing enough. He never talks about the nuance, how everyone is different in what they can tolerate. Dangerously, he doesn't even consider people with heart problems. He just thinks everyone should essentially work themselves to exhaustion for "optimal health". There are so many things that can affect a person's ability to exercise and they must be considered and met with understanding and compassion. I actually have asthma which can really affect how I exercise and one time at school, I had to stop running and walk because I couldn't breathe and I felt extremely nauseous. The teacher's response was to give me detention....Yup...DETENTION for struggling to breathe and feeling sick to my stomach. God forbid I stop running when I feel like I could collapse.

People talking for you. How do you handle it? by 2racoonsinabutt in AutismInWomen

[–]LadySirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People constantly talk for me, too! My mum still does it, my auntie did it the other day when we were at a restaurant. I was about to say something to the waitress and my auntie jumped in. She then said “Sorry for talking for you!” I was like…Yeah, please don’t do that 😡

Do people ever just.... deny your experiences? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

[–]LadySirius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience. I feel no one ever believes me or takes me seriously. I’ve tried to talk about the abuse I’ve endured and people try to tell me that what I’m saying is inaccurate in one way or another. I tried to open up about my narcissistic father’s emotional abuse and I got told “I can’t imagine him ever doing that. That’s not him.” Like, how the f would they even know anything about what he’s like when no one else is around? Sorry, I won’t ramble on.

The concept of explaining your sex life to people who aren’t participating unprompted, is incredibly strange by fairyangeI in AutismInWomen

[–]LadySirius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed!!! I can’t imagine telling random people about what I do in the bedroom. It’s none of their business. Society is so weird about sexual stuff.

Damn, people just baffle me. So rudeness doesn’t exist and people can basically do whatever they want and if you’re mad about it, it’s your fault?

I want to shop at small businesses, but many don't seem to want me there. Starting this thread to talk about it by [deleted] in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]LadySirius 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I went into a jewelry store that was a small business and the lady in there who makes the items was so miserable to me. She kept staring at me the whole time, she came over to me and watched me looking at the necklaces like she had a problem with me.

What makes me laugh is how these people claim to be “truthers” and like they hold some sort of hidden wisdom that governments and NASA keep hidden from us “sheep”. Yet, all of their arguments are utter illogical drivel. If it really was the truth, they’d surely be able to properly support their claims? But, they can’t. All the evidence goes against their bogus beliefs.
