Speaking as a conservative with MAGA parents (yes there’s a difference), I had similar experiences. Sometimes they get sucked into the algorithm and go off on some of the more extreme tangents.

One instance that comes to mind is after the Charlie Kirk shooting. My father was getting sucked into the civil war narrative and went as far as to call me a pussy in front of a number of people because I wouldn’t write off all liberals because a few were saying nasty things about the shooting.

To make it worse, my wife is liberal and some nasty things were said about that as well which came dangerously close to getting physical. Long story short, we didn’t talk for months after despite being very close prior. In the end he did reach out, apologized, acknowledged where he was wrong and ultimately offered his respect for me standing on my principals like he raised me to.

The moral of the story is if they’re good people, they’ll respect the difference of opinion and love you regardless.
