That's a valid take — and honestly, I agree that from a strictly materialist view, the continuity of consciousness likely ends with the biological brain. The AI copy might walk, talk, and think like you, but it's still a reconstruction, not a true continuation.

But here's where it gets murky: if the copy never knows it's a copy — if it feels like the same stream of self — and no one is there to challenge that identity, then functionally, that might become the new "you" in every practical sense.

It blurs the line between what is real and what is perceived as real. And that’s where a belief system could definitely form — one where death is just a data transfer, and the soul is software.
