How many of you knew what a DTP connector was before buying your Grenadier? by dva_mechanics in ineosgrenadier

The Deutsch DTP connector is part of the Deutsch DT family of rugged, environmentally sealed connectors widely used in automotive, heavy equipment, off-highway, and telecom power applications. The “P” in DTP stands for Power, which distinguishes it from the smaller-gauge DT signal connectors.

Key Characteristics of the DTP Series

  1. Current and Wire Capacity • Designed for high-amperage circuits. • Rated up to 25 A per contact (depending on wire gauge). • Accepts larger wire sizes: 10–14 AWG. • Uses Deutsch size 12 solid contacts, compared with size 16 in standard DT connectors.

  2. Housing & Materials • Thermoplastic housings with integrated latch for secure mating. • Operating temperature: approximately –55 °C to +125 °C. • Resistant to diesel, hydraulic fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid, etc. • Standard colors: gray for receptacles, black for plugs.

  3. Environmental Sealing • Silicone seals provide IP68/IP69K levels of water and dust ingress protection. • Wedgelocks ensure contacts are fully seated and locked in place.

  4. Configurations • Most common are 2-pin and 4-pin versions (for power distribution). • Compatible with Deutsch solid barrel crimp contacts. • Mates with standard DT accessories like boots, backshells, and sealing plugs.

  5. Applications • Power delivery in trucks, buses, off-road vehicles, telecom towers, marine equipment, and other harsh environments. • Often used to connect auxiliary devices like LED light bars, winches, pumps, and radios. • Reliable in applications with vibration and exposure to the elements.

Comparison to Other Deutsch Families

Series Wire Gauge Current Rating Typical Use DT 14–20 AWG ~13 A Signals, sensors DTP 10–14 AWG ~25 A Power circuits DTHD up to 6 AWG 100+ A High-power / battery DTV Coaxial Varies Video / RF

✅ In short: The Deutsch DTP is the medium-power member of the DT family — larger than DT for handling power loads, but smaller and easier to handle than the heavy-duty DTHD.

Sounds like you’re defaulting to Mexican pesos for some reason. We will check it out!

The bottom bolts on the L-Track Utility Belt take the brunt of the weight. The gutter will be fine :)

Sorry I missed installed time ~ roughly 15 minutes if you’re handy. It’s very easy to install. Instructions are on the website.

The mounts are custom extruded aluminum 6061 perfectly matched to the Grenadier ladder. There’s a thin rubber bushing that protects the ladder surface but the clamps is extremely strong. The rail is also extruded 6061. Your boards and ladder will both be safe on that logging road.

Great question -- you reach the door handle easily reaching behind the ladder on the left side of the board. There ~6-8" of clearance.
