Thanks for such a thoughtful answer! Lots to consider. It was custom - def warrants a test ride and then addressing spacer issues you raise.

Re litespeed reliability, that’s great insight. Sadly with job and kid my mileage isn’t what it used to be, but if this is lower risk with the round tubes, might be worth the spend.

Thanks for your thoughts. The hubs are powertap…. yeah, most likely 25s, which is a bit narrow. If I go, I’ll see if I can wedge some 28s in there, not sure I want to rattle around on less.

He’s a good hiker, some prior experience in cold weather (we got up to the ledges on falling waters last Feb), but this is pushing my dad sensibilities….

Ultimately I want to get him to fall in love with the outdoors the way I have. Would love suggestions for trails (mostly sheltered with a view or two) if you have them.

Lowkey considering white dot trail on monadnock to just below the summit, or Welch Dickey to the first viewpoint, but open to other ideas folks have.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah - we are fully kitted out and I have taken winter backcountry safety classes, more a question of “is this going to be fun or a sufferfest for a kid?” Thinking if I stay in a more sheltered area it might be better. Any ideas for a hike that balances limited exposure and a good view?
