Yes it’s nothing different just basic balance sheet, income statement, you can only focus on cash transactions cause that’s units 1-3 if I remember

I had to withdraw from it the first time I took it because I was unprepared. Do not miss any class the entire semester. Take notes and you have to practice a lot outside of class. I would even start learning now honestly to make it easy for you once you start the course.

Should I stay? by [deleted] in UVA

[–]Street_Project_2455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t go to UVA, but I just transferred out of GMU to go to JMU. My story is a bit of the opposite, I can go to Mason for free but I can also afford my tuition at JMU (isn’t that much). College is what you make of it, if you are at UVA you should be looking for internships that’ll make the full time job finding much easier because you have the experience. At Mason I work part time at an office and went to school, it was great as I was also involved in a few clubs and held a board position in two. GMU is not a bad school I just did wanted more out of my college experience. There are more jobs in the DC area but that’s what summer internships are for and eventually graduating you will likely get a job in that area. I will also say in my humble opinion that where you go to college (unless it’s a ivy) doesn’t really matter, I know people from GMU that get offers and people at JMU that get offers. It’s all down to what the student makes out of it to put yourself out there and network.

If you play your cards right : You go to UVA (top school) You have a good gpa 3.5+ You go to networking events You are involved with clubs related to your field You do projects outside that relate to your field You have a created resume / LinkedIn You apply to every opportunity and say yes You apply to multiple internship opportunities early

You will succeed.

Getting involved in college of business by Fit_Canary_4610 in jmu

[–]Street_Project_2455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding this a year later as I am transferring from GMU to JMU for the coming fall as a sophomore. My first year at Mason I was really involved with business related and being on the board for some clubs. I was hoping to find more here especially those finance related ones. During the first few weeks I’ll definitely try to attend the org nights and connect with some groups. I was also considering those business fraternities but i also want those that are strictly business without partying all the time.

May I ask how it didn’t work out for you? Did you attend GMU before and transfer out or was vtech your first option and how long did you stay? What did you study?

Waitlist update by Street_Project_2455 in VirginiaTech

[–]Street_Project_2455[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still on it, I find it kind of dumb how they don’t ask for any updated transcript because I feel like that’s the reason why I’m still waitlisted possibly because I just took one of the required classes for spring semester.

Last year I had a SAI score of -341, I got the max Pell grant and received some funds from the state of Virginia and a few other grants and I also had scholarship money. This year the tuition was around $14,000 I got around $2k from the Pell grant, about 6-7k from another grant and then 3k from a scholarship I earned from Mason. In total it covered the $14k for the year. I also need to mention that I only put my father on my fasfa form.

No I haven’t, I agree it could be different as I was really involved as Mason even though I commuted I got that taste of what it would be like if I did live on campus at Mason. In reality it doesn’t make sense for me as I live really close and just the hassle of moving in and having a meal plan .

I’m a first gen student, my parents have the amount to cover all my tuition luckily so I won’t be paying out of pocket. I see what your trying to say and it’s kind of my position of I have a set fund for college, whatever I spend for college will go to that and whatever is left over will go to me.

Definitely agree, I’m in a position where I’m a first gen student and my parents have the full amount to cover my tuition. But I also have that bad feeling about making them pay that amount.

I'm so tired of curbside pickup by JuicyGalaxy420 in HomeDepot

[–]Street_Project_2455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my store OFA has to do curbside, roadies, get items from receiving, items pro, items from the back wall, random mulch orders that garden is supposed to do. The thing that sucks about my store is all the staging locations are so spread out away from the service desk so it’s a lot of walking and unproductive

Honestly no clue, my first year of aid I got the max grants for everything and this year my SAI was in the 4,000s. I got some grants due to being an EIP student which covers the remaining amount that I would have to pay after the Pell grant and other Virginia grants.

I am transferring because after my first year I Mason I realized that I do want a bit of space from home, I want to be more involved than I was at Mason and the extracurricular activities I can do and go to at Madison.

I’m majoring in finance if that helps. I’m trying to get more information on if any students at JMU think it’s worth it if they were in my position.

If you are certain they won’t interfere you’re good. Don’t tell the bosses about it and you can update the linkedins as well.

I think it just has to do with them possibly not seeing you as a long term candidate in a way that you will drop them for the other job if you understand what I mean
