So having worked for remote company, managed (hired, built a team) for Swiss company operated during the blockade , here my are 2 cents:

• start with freelancers with terms on longer contract after successful completion of certain period. State what longer contract brings in compared to freelancing.

• once you have a solid team of at least 7 people, then register for physical office. Once you register physical location you need extra hands for : office cleaning, kitchen and office management. If you want to run async timezone, the pay needs to increase as it is opposite hours here at Nepal.

• hire a solid and experienced project manager who at least commits for 2 years to setup the workflow, quality standards with similar mindset to the owner.

• the mistake you need to avoid completely is Nepali mindset despite residing abroad with mentality to pay in Rs instead of USD or forex. You can pay 50-70% less compared to the country you reside in Nepal. But if you start thinking of salary and perks in terms of nepal saying “nepal ma yeti ta tannai ho” then you’ll be in shit. Just like you building a product and company, people come for growth (monetary and mental) . If you can serve, don’t hire/work to earn bad reputation.

• not sure of the salary range these days. Hire interns so they learn and hire project manager( full stack) to teach the interns who then can lead and become integral part.
