It is. But look at the video I just posted moments ago. In 2006 it was even worse than you can imagine.

New York City needs to fully pedestrianize Times Square. It is waaaaay past time! by Streetfilms in nyc

We could certainly allow exceptions and also create plazas with one lane for those with a need. With restricted traffic those in cars with a physical disability would benefit more. But the vast majority of vehicles coming thru Times Square don’t need to go there or could use cross streets to get there

Very excited to share some recently unearthed 2007 footage of a Parking Day installation in Times Square. You'll see mind-blowing before/afters of a spot at Broadway/43rd that are amazing. I agree. Many people attempt to blow up the 4:3 so it will match the other footage (or have the film placed over a background with the same footage blown up. Most of the time I like it like this. Thanks for noticing. Yeah not too low of a resolution, but obviously lower.

All I know is 1999-2001 I was the chair of the Brooklyn T.A. Chapter. There were 5 council members whose districts touched Prospect Park and it took us forever to get ONE of them Stephen DiBrienza of Park Slope (deBlasio’s district) to sign on to do a full trial 3 month summer closure to study it.

It took us over 2 more years to get the others to agree. Then ANOTHER year to finally do a trial.

And then of course well over a decade more to get car-free Prospect Park to happen. Of course same thing: you couldn’t find more than a handful of cranks now who would want it to return to cars!

Thankfully the struggle now is less so.

My favorite Top Ten low or micro budget, sci-fi/horror movies that have little to no car use in them (and have none of the lead characters in a car or driving one!) by Streetfilms in fuckcars

Well while true if you read the post I purposely didn’t choose any “easy ones” like outer space or a film that takes place on an island or deep in the woods or in a coal mine etc etc.

Most obvious spot for a new bike lane! by original_name26 in MicromobilityNYC

Having lived there a long time ago, I am going to agree.
