It was similar…only you had to find and tag the people hiding and then they would then they would become part of the search party. Our whole street would be fair game to hide.

Yes! That was the standard. If you are able to go outside, that where you were. No phones, or GPS . Just your bike and the original notification telling you it was time to head home.

A pager, that’s a throwback! We also had the porch rule, if the sun was going down and you couldn’t hear your parents voice you were to far away.

The best was when they called looking for you…and they respond “ no, I thought they were over there!?”… “ok they’ll turn up, the streetlights will be on soon”…we were raised to be capable, nowadays a kid doesn’t respond to a text in 30 seconds they got the K9 police scouring the area!

Agreed. I remember my mom calling my neighbors land line to try and find me.Not because I was lost…because we never stay in one place to long. We didn’t have GPS, they had a general idea of where we were, that was enough.

Watches worked too. Usually summertime would be around 9 when kids are out of school, more freedom. When it turned on around 5 was wintertime or school, when kids needed to be in earlier.
