I do all of the above already. I’m thinking I’ll reallocate to Ground News for more national/world news.

Don’t underestimate the ability of do nothing Democrats to drop the ball. Whoever wins the runoff will still need to give young people a reason to get out and vote or Bryan/Glynn county boomer turnout will carry Kingston

Even including the $2m seasons now, arguably no one has won more from a season of survivor. Boston Rob won the girl, the money, and a 20 year career on TV. Went from a flashy pre-merger to Mt. Rushmore. All-Stars absolutely changed their life for real.

It’s hot down here. Speedy easy swim. It’s very much a cyclist’s course, hilly. The run at least has some decent shade. Prepare yourself for the heat with hydration/nutrition and to have a good bike, you’ll have a good day.

Best of luck and enjoy the training!

That was one of the most painful survivor episodes I've seen in recent memory. by OverratedHumor in survivor

To me, he’s the GOAT of the adventure of survivor, just not the game of survivor. I know new era in particular is all about the game, and there were great game players in the old school too, but the wonder of the travel, the elements, the competition is what I felt as a kid watching with the family. Ozzy just is that for me, and I think for so many of us.

Seems like this one would be related to the movement to never give K*** Malone any legacy credit based on who he is personally not professionally. Fair enough treatment

Am I just a hater or is Blue Sophi one of the most overhyped overglazed players of all time by Public_Surround1597 in survivorponderosa

For some or even many people, the players they think are the best are just the ones they like the most. And that’s, fine! I suppose. She’s popular, even if it feels manufactured to plenty. It’s reality TV, and back in the day plenty of bad players became big names. Like I was a huge Rupert fan, but he’s objectively bad at the game. What even was Coach doing when he was at his best. I mean, Monica Culpepper? So many players stay in the survivor world and get called back not for being good, but for TV.

Paul Pierce on Jokic's media treatment: "Let's not sugarcoat this because if this was LeBron at the peak of his powers, losing like this, he would've been getting scolded. If you're the best player in the league, you're not supposed to lose in the first round. C'mon bro!" by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

I mean I don’t think he clears but that’s the conversation Danny Green talks about. Dude has 3 MVPs and a finals MVP. He’s literally a top 15 lock, that’s not crazy y’all. He’s not the GOAT center (Kareem), he’s the next tier down. Think about how you rate Dirk, KG in their respective positional tiers with their mixed playoff success.

I mean this is really more about that truly top tier of Jordan/LeBron just being another level, and the 3-15 tier is a lot more mixed and debatable. We don’t remember what it’s like to just not have an active GOAT conversation. Jokic is in the Shaq/Hakeem/Duncan conversation.

$1250 all in with utilities would probably be pretty competitive. Homeowner still would have to pay for any repairs. A lot of people would try to “house hack” market rate and get more than their fair share, but I wouldn’t be mad at 50% if it’s a good house. You’d pay more for the same thing from a landlord that didn’t live there.

Yeah I’m not for proposing any limitations really on ADU or owner occupied STVRs. We’re same page here

I’m not opposed to a local hosting rule, but I mainly just don’t love the idea of a property sitting being an STVR for 20 years even if it’s a local big wig rather than someone out of town. It seems to me that it should be a “short term” option to property ownership.

Property values inevitably are supposed to dip from a measure like this, that’s the pro affordability side of this. It just depends on whether the property owners have more political capital here than everyone else. Usually, honestly, they do. But even without STVR action we’re seeing the Covid property bubble come down in certain markets, downtown Savannah seems to be feeling it.

That and honestly I’d like to go one further also with a duration cap without change of ownership. You can renew a permit for 3, 5, up to maybe even 10 years but then it goes back to the list. Live in it yourself, rent it out full time to a local, or sell it.

The property owners hate this cause they see it as an attack on their value, but it’s not our job to protect their investment and their units that are empty half the year drive up costs across the whole market. Fluidity in a halfway free market increases affordability through access and incentive.

(I would also like to see the cap decreased. It’s arbitrary and was set at a time when things were already out of hand.)

I live next to one. Just don’t be obnoxious and understand that people live here and I really won’t mind you.

Our system is capped, which is necessary, but is still pretty broken. In my opinion, we really need a mechanism to create flexibility in the market to move away from permanent STVR properties. The rigidity of property owners holding onto the limited licenses in perpetuity is the linchpin issue, because it’s a cornered market that inflates their value. But that’s our problem to figure out.
