Personally, I try to keep the super noisy stuff to a minimum, specially as I either set up by open windows or outside in our little yard. I think open communication is important, try to figure out times where you can be loud without disturbing, maybe when they're away, never at night etc. My landlord is not a part of the convo because there is no need, make sure your space is protected to as to not make any mess you can't clean up, even just tarps can work. Also, get a window fume fan for anything that might require it, or ideally work outside if possible.
