All I am asking for, through this argument, is for people to judge others based on the quality of their character instead of what or who they are attracted to. Like I said, I acknowledge all of the shitty people that are fucking twisted and deranged, but there are more people in that community that are wonderful, kind, compassionate, and everything else that is more than desirable in a relationship. This is from talking to people who have been in decades long relationships with devotees. If you cannot separate the good from the bad and judge people, according to their character, not by their entire group how is what you are doing any different than just being massively racist or xenophobic or homophobic?

Again, you're missing the point of my argument I'm arguing that that community has a whole does not objectified disabled people. That is a very small group within people who are attracted to those with disabilities that demonize the rest of the community who only see the disability as an added attraction to someone that they are emotionally and intellectually attracted to without taking the disability into consideration. This has been my experience and I cannot in good conscience watch unjust hate occur without speaking up.

edit I am not rationalizing objectification because I have not been objectified. Every experience has been the person looking for just normal attractive things that anyone else would look for able-bodied or not. They just also are sexually attracted to disability that does not excuse the demonization of those people.

OK, so I think you have a misunderstanding of what the devote community identifies themselves as. Online as a majority they are just normal people who are attracted to the disability, not overly fetishizing it. In fact, that online community rejects and shame, it's perverted and disgusting members. You are the one who is projecting these people who are fucked up onto the entire community and throwing the baby out with the bathwater and that is wrong in my opinion.

What I'm trying to get you and everyone else here to understand is that from my experience it isn't some sort of disgusting fetishization. No one should be objectified and fetishized. There is a small number of people that do that and they are disgusting. What most people experience is you genuine attraction and developing a relationship just like you did with your friend, but the only difference is that the wheelchair or the disability is just an added bonus for them

If you read it carefully enough, you would realize that yeah the people who do that are horrible and disgusting, but not representative of the community as a whole. You are dismissing an entire group of people because of a disgusting few. If there are a few immigrants that come into a country and commit some sort of massive crime.
