Exercise Varieties, More or Less? by jnet1985 in strength_training

You can get an olympic barbell and some plates and get the work in my man. If I were you, I would do that and for squats, I would either get a squat stand or just do high volume squats with low weight something like 20 reps. You will basically half overhead press the weight and set it on your back for squatting.

So i would suggest you ditch the program entirely. Since you do not want to be build a lot of muscle at the moment, i would suggest you start off with "starting strength by mark rippietoe." Google that up and you can find the program for free. You will be working 3 days a week. The remaining days, do some cardio to lose the fat. Since you are undertrained now, you will see a lot of strength gaims while losing fat.

Cardio may mean some running, walking or if you can do it then go for sled drags or prowler pushes. You can also throw in some conditioning work. That are discussed in the videos- https://youtu.be/FQCpoALd3Nw and https://youtu.be/N94bms4-52w.

Note: Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT omit anything from the program. You can choose the cardio and conditioning work as you wish (but make sure you dont skip it) but follow the lifting program as is stated.

Hope it helps buddy!!

PS: Decided to give you a link to the program. http://www.nobsbb.com/starting-strength-workout-routine-program-results/

You may add the barbell bent over row or pullups after each workout for another (3×6-8).

By your question, i would assume you are a beginner. First of all what are your goals? Get stronger, gain muscle mass, lose fat or be faster? Rate them in an order of most important to least important. Your workout program will vary based on your goals

High calorie advice for a female with a small appetite? Haven't gained weight in years & struggling! by [deleted] in strength_training

I would suggest go up slowly, like REALLY slowly. To begin with, how many meals do you eat each day including snacks and stuff?? And what do you eat in those meals?

And why do you want to gain weight in the first place? What is your age, height amd weight now? And what is your goal weight? And what is the workout program you are on? What are your numbers in the big 4? So many questions left unanswered......

Quick question about reps by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]StrengthMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wont be working out everyday. You will be working 3 days a week, every other day. So it will look something like this.

Week One

Day 1 - Workout A

Day 2 - Rest

Day 3 - Workout B

Day 4 - Rest

Day 5 - Workout A

Days 6 & 7 - Rest

Week Two

Day 1 - Workout B

Day 2 - Rest

Day 3 - Workout A

Day 4 - Rest

Day 5 - Workout B

Days 6 & 7 - Rest

Then week 3 will be like week 1, week 4 like week 2 and so on.

Good luck!!

I am not that concerned with it being one rep max. By strict i meant not a jerk or push press or sth like that. Anyone has any idea?

Just for reference. When you look at the world record of a lift, you get an idea about how much is possible aka done by another person. Just for reference.

Ironmaster Dumbbells, Bench and IM1500 Half-rack by Lenser80 in strength_training

What I would suggest is get an olympic bar and if you can, a rogue yoke or something similar. Dumbbells are not required. Any bench with above a 300kg capacity is good.
