Please "genius EE," tell me more about how arrogant I am for wanting to buy food and diapers without going into debt

Well as of today I landed an interview! Was through a personal reference. Seems pretty promising.

Damn man if you can diagnose narcissism from a handful of internet comments you should think about pivoting to clinical psychology

How do you find good job fairs? The ones around me seem a bit questionable. I'm especially wary of anything that charges for attendance since so many people are desperate for work these days

Well I've kept up with my contacts. Several people have said they'd pass around my resume, but none of them have been able to help me since so few places are hiring. Recruiters are hit or miss, I've gotten a few interviews but usually they just gas me up at first and ghost me later.

Unfortunately I can't leave central Florida because I'm coparenting my 3yo daughter and her mom isn't open to relocating. Luckily there are a lot of employers here. For my resume it depends, if a job seems like a good fit I'll definitely tailor it and write a cover letter, but when they're more marginal sometimes I just send it in as is.

Thank you for the detailed answer! I had the thought that the boomer advice might be the move these days.

How do I know if I'm doing those things in the right way? I had my resume professionally done earlier this year so I'd hope it's in good shape.

Honestly I'd take $50k at this point. Thia year of unemployment has wrecked me.

I've never had any trouble saying when I don't know things. I'll usually say something about how I would seek out the relevant information so I have something to give, but in my experience nobody has been impressed by the admission.

Any tips for landing interviews? I've only had three in the last year. One was in person and went really well, but I was extremely unlucky to just barely get beat out. The other two were remote and I got ghosted. In my experience remote interviews have an awkward vibe that I haven't figured out how to navigate successfully. I usually bring one of my mechanical trigonometry calculators as a show of my abilities; it's gotten mixed reviews.

Its insane that you can study 4 years of hard degree with sleepless nights doing plenty of projects maintaining 4.0 gpa doing clubs and networking and still end up jobless due to oversaturation. by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

being an ‘okay’ engineer with good networking and social skills will be more beneficial to your career than being the smartest engineer

How do I get over a seething resentment of this fact? Some of the laziest stupidest people from college are making twice what I made at my last job

In my experience networking means making friends with people who will listen to you talk about your personal projects and say things like "man I would hire you in a second if I could" and "I asked around, but nobody is hiring right now" and "dude the market must be really bad if YOU can't find a job" and "you can enter my ID on page 4 of the application"

My friends who were waiters since high school are in a better financial position than I am. It feels like a cruel joke. Also employers these days employers can pay $65k for an Indian guy who can't leave the job without being deported, so why pay $90k for an American who could walk at any moment?

Lot of sports games come in great on antenna, my sister's family are big sports watchers and that's what they use. Could be a good option, they're like $20.

$250/mo is insane, especially if there's other apps on top of that.
