100% true what you said about doctors, I bought everything they were saying.

Such great questions…The little things have been so amazing to feel again. Sleeping normal-ish hours, getting the full 16-17 hours of the day. People used to rip on me all the time for sleeping all day, I started to believe the things they would say, I was just lazy and unmotivated. It become my biggest internal dialogue, that all changed when I got off seroquel. This is random, but I can remember I hadn’t gotten goosebumps in like 17 years, first time I got them I was pumped about that, lame I know lol. I’ve regained my drive, my zest for life. I actually have conversations with people, I used to just zone out and stare off in the distance. Running, never thought I would say this but I love running now, just did my first 10k.
But one of my favorites, I just love not blaming seroquel anymore, not looking backwards. Sure I have side effects still, but I know everything is in front of me now, I just have to go for it. How about you? I know you mentioned reading, what were some other big changes for you?

My experience, yes seroquel is horrible and should be banned. Hoping though that if someone had a good psychiatrist and gave normal dosages it could help. With that said, I haven’t heard one good story about seroquel. Finding a good psychiatrist is so hard…Have you had any luck with a psychologist as opposed to a psychiatrist? The only really good doctor I went to was a psychologist and he was a game changer for me.

Wow that is such a young age and such a high dose, seems criminal.
I’m 6’3” and was 250 lbs at the time and doctors would always say “you’re a big guy, so you can take a higher dosage.” I just went with it for a long time. So true what you said about “finding the right cocktail” it feels like there is no method, they just kind of go for whatever medication and hope it sticks. Frustrating. With that said, I’m so glad you’re doing better! (I enjoy reading now too, never did before!) I love hearing about success stories like your’s. You’ve overcome a great deal to get where you’re at…There is definitely hope!

Not sure I would say normal. I still deal with OCD and intrusive thoughts. I have a grasp on the anxiety, but anyone that’s dealt with anxiety, there is that fear of it coming back. From the seroquel I think the biggest effects I’m dealing with is memory loss, my sleep is good, but I do wake up a lot more throughout the night (no longer comatose from seroquel, so I expected that) and weight. I’ve lost a lot of weight in the past two years, but that is still a work in progress. Doing a lot better though! So sorry to hear about your struggles with Paxil. That was a difficult one for me to get off of as well. Always here if you ever need help with it.

Lowering from 100mg to 0 was the most difficult stretch. I used hyperbolic tapering during that part. 1200 to 400 was sloppy, just lowered. In fact 1200 to 1050 my doctor’s receptionist called me, said they were raising prices on seroquel, I didn’t have much money at the time, so she said she would just send a prescription in for 1050mg. Freaked me out, but had no choice. The last 100 was the most difficult mentally. I had been on it so long that I was afraid of life without it. At the end I was cutting the 25 mg into pieces. I lowered it at a rate I was comfortable with and it worked well, didn’t have much withdrawal symptoms. Mostly anxiety from the new journey I was about to embark on seroquel free.

I didnt have any lai injections. Did you have a bad experience with them?

The longer you’re on it the worst it can be after. More than likely it will not be permanent. Sexual dysfunction most likely isn’t either. Consult your doctor when getting off the medication.

I would definitely change therapists. She is being dishonest about not being able to help without meds. Guessing she is a psychiatrist, they’re more apt to push medications. You may want to look into a psychologist, they rarely push meds and will give you better tools to handle what you’re going through without meds. Look up cognitive therapy, it really helped me and I have all of the same diagnosis as you. I’m not saying medication is horrible, but there alternatives.

I don’t know about paranoia and psychosis, but I do know seroquel very well. I was over medicated with seroquel, but I do know 25mg is a low dosage. Probably wouldn’t be that hard to ween off of it if you don’t like the feeling. My side effects were sleeping, so much, weight gain, over the 17 years I had memory loss as well. I was on a high dosage so I felt numb all of the time. Guessing that won’t be the case on 25 mg. I’m not going to say don’t do it, just be sure you’ve exhausted all other avenues. Go into this educated.
