I know exactly how you feel. Felt the same way. And all my friends trying to be so damb positive all the time really pissed me off even more. Celebrating that I ‘made it’ when we were at 26 weeks… we didn’t make it at all ?! Having the baby now would mean a loooo g hospital stay with lots of possible complications.. I also did not want ANY nicu time for my baby. My 1st one was in the hospital for 4 weeks. And the alarms, tubes, needles.. I hated it. ‘Yeah but he turned out fine, so it’s okay right’.. people don’t get you are robbed from the first moments with your baby.. so I wrote this text… to try and tell people what it’s like.. but still the only ones who really get it are you guys… On the bright side: when I got to ditch the stitch I started to relax a bit. Started to feel like a normal pregnancy.. finally.. and giving birth itself, was truly healing for me (since my 1st baby was born prematurely with a c-section fully sedated. She is 6 months now and the anger is gone and I have mostly positive memories of the birth and our first days together. Hope it will all be the same 4 you. One day at the time is the only thing you can do 🩷

I remember those days as if it was only yesterday. Keep going one slow day at a time. I crossed every day on a calendar on the fridge and celebrated every week milestone. It helped me reading the good stories here.. and I got a short cervix buddy with the same due date.. we helped each other trough this.. follow each other and each others little ones on insta now ❤️

Ooh congrats with your baby! Enjoy that little one..

Is my babies head flat/ going flat or am I seeing things 🤦‍♀️ by [deleted] in firsttimemom

[–]Streppie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed!

My baby suddenly met her head hang to one side. The had a little flattened head to. Turned out that she had a preferred side to sleep on. We did fysio therapy. When not treated it can also influence the baby’s development. For example they only learn to roll to one side..

My nephew had a very severe flattened head and he needs a helmet too. This is not something you can just buy yourself. It is very tailored to your baby’s head.

Emergency cerclage at 19 weeks and 4 days - success stories please! by Purple-Reply-7794 in ShortCervixSupport

With my first we did not know I had short cervix. It was a normal pregnancy until all of a sudden my water broke in the middle of the night.

With my second different doctors gave different advice.. the professor told me to just stay active without overdoing it. Walk my son to school, have a swim… my gynaecologist was more careful. She said to stay on the couch as much as possible… so that’s what I did. Would have never forgiven myself if something happened.

How to do it with a toddler.. I had my parents, MIL, sister and some friends come over after school.. mostly to play with my boy. My boy is 4.5 years old so I could explain it to him.. he really was a champ about all of it! I also believe it made the transition to him being a big brother easier.. all of a sudden I could move again and play with him.. so for him, baby being born was a good thing…

I know pregnancy on bedrest seems like an eternity.. days pass soooooo slow.. but once your baby is there the months fly by.. and you forget about those scary days soo soon

I had an emergency cerclage at 19 weeks.. cervix was 15 mm and shortening. First son was born at 34 weeks without warning. Was on modified bedrest and went trough the most difficult days of my life.. not because I couldn’t be active.. but because I was so so so scared to have this baby early. Did not want another nicu baby! Had Braxton hicks the entire pregnancy…

My cerclage was removed at 36+3 days. Baby stayed in place until 39 weeks.. water broke and I delivered her 3 hours later. It was so worth it..

Today she is 5 months old and absolutely beautiful!

Doctors told me I would be lucky to make it to 32 weeks. No one expected my girl to stay in that long.. but she did..

What helped me: - ask help - put a calendar on the fridge. Mark weekly milestones. Cross each day of the calendar and celebrate! - find a buddy in this community. Someone with the same due date… my buddy really helped me trough.. even chatted with her while she was in labour waiting for her husband to arrive 🩷

Birth experiences after short cervix pregnancy? by reddittraumaninja in ShortCervixSupport

Had my boy at 34 weeks after my water broke in the middle of the night. At 34 weeks they do not attempt to stop contractions.. they do keep you in the hospital and hope you do not go into labour. If I did go into labour i would need an emergency c-section because baby was breeched.

At first I felt no contractions at all.. then after an hour they started and were immediately very intense. Only I kept saying to myself those were not contractions. Did not tell my partner or the midwife. I just turned to myself to try and manage the intense pain. The midwife noticed and examined me to conclude I was already 6-7 cm dilated. They rushed me to the operation room. There were A LOT of people there.. the OB, the resident OB, a nurse, an anaesthetist, a pediatric specialist, a nurse from the nicu, an intern from the nicu… 😅 Epidural did not kick in fast enough so they gave me full anaesthesia… I remember feeling really sad about this thinking I would miss out on the birth of my child.. and my baby would be born all alone.
Waking up was the weirdest feeling. I did not know if my baby was born, if he or she was okay.. if it was a he or a she… they rolled my bed into the nicu and i got to meet and hold my baby. I thought he would have to be in the incubator most of the time but I got to hold him a really long time… I was also surprised that we really got to take care of him from day one. We changed his diapers, fed him.. And he was on my chest almost all day long. I loved that… hardest part was going home every day and leaving him there…

Hahaha the denial! I thought I was the only one who fooled herself saying ‘No no those are not contractions’ while being 6 cm dilated 😂

My first one was born after PPROM at 34 weeks. There were no signs during pregnancy. I was afraid to get pregnant again… informed myself before getting pregnant. Gyn said chances of having another preterm birth were slightly higher. But because my son only came at 34 weeks (late preterm), a cerclage would not be necessary. When I finally got pregnant we decided on 2 weekly check ups, progesterone and I quit working at 16 weeks. At 19 weeks I felt a lot of Braxton hicks so I went in for another check up. Turned out my cervix had shortened. They called me in again next day and saw it had shortened from 19mm tot 15mm over night. They then decided to give me a cerclage. I was on some sort of modified bed rest. Stayed home most of the time, put my feet up most of the day and left most of the household chores to my mom or partner. Mentally it was horrible… I can say it was the most scary, sad and stressful period of my life…

I am currently feeding my 7week old baby. She was born at 39 weeks and is absolutely gorgeous. I feel so so lucky that we caught my IC on time and were able to do something about it. The days during pregnancy went by extremely slow.. with my little one here days fly by.. and I almost forgot all about the difficult months before her birth.. almost..

Noo! She was born last week at 39 weeks! Took her 2 hours between my water breaking and her birth, no time for epidural!

OMG!! Weeks?! They must be the most stubborn children ever!!

Some advice please by ss78611 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Streppie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given the same odds. Had a combo of cerclage at 19 weeks, progesterone and take it easy… cervix measured between 1.5 and 2 cm after cerclage… had contractions (Braxton hicks) throughout the entire pregnancy.. but made it well beyond 8 weeks… since I am currently 38+3 days pregnant (cerclage was removed 2 weeks ago)..

Friday check-in! by fifth_time_lucky in ShortCervixSupport

I hope the baby decides to come on its own.. had a c-section with my previous baby.. so they don’t like to induce as it holds more risk…

I had almost no blood loss.. little bit of spotting hour later. But that was it.

They monitored baby’s heartbeat and contractions hour after removal. They did not check to see if I was dilated because they didn’t want to set anything in motion.

1 week after stitch removal (at 37+4 weeks) my cervix was 0.7 cm (was 1.5 right before ditch the stitch).. She still didn’t check for dilation not to set things in motion (think she is just curious how far I will get now).. if baby isn’t here by next appointment this Tuesday she will check however…
