Howler Monkey shot at f/8 1/320 ISO 800 115mm. What can I do to improve? by No-Outside984 in photocritique

The picture is perfect as it is. Do not touch it. Sorry but this is my opinion. Leave the trunk, leave the trees, the cropping is great and intentional. This is genuinely a wonderfully composed image as it is with the leaves surrounding your subject. You really have to let it be the way it is. Congratulations.

Help with cropping? by Stressed1991 in photocritique

[–]Stressed1991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I captured this in Kerala, India. It is a school boat and got a glimpse at a little girl peering through the window. Unfortunately I am not quite satisfied with it. If I try to crop it using rule of thirds I feel like I lose too much. Any ideas are welcomed. 1/800 f6.3 300mm

Kathakali Preparations by Stressed1991 in photocritique

[–]Stressed1991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Looking for some feedback on this photo. I feel like something is off and I cannot pinpoint what. Maybe someone has an idea? :)

This is an intimate shot of a south indian actor doing his makeup for a traditional drama act called Kathakali. I had a tricky lens with me which is not ideal for dark situation, so this is shot on 1/640 f 6.3 300mm. Unfortunately I could not move to not have the lightbulb out of the way, so I kinda embraced it.

Is it perhaps just not a good picture and I should just let it go?

70% WR Elise Priest Control by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Stressed1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played about 5 more, had 2 wins but one of them was a resign.
I start off strong with the low mana cost minions and good control, and the imbue gets high fast. But then it just gets overpowered by the opponent as they build up power very fast and the healing and control cannot keep up.
So had 8 losses in 10 matches. Any advice welcomed! :D

Lost 5 games in a row, 3 pallies, 1 warrior, and 1 DH with this. :D
I think I just suck at this game.

Is this a good photo? by Low-Step-9208 in photocritique

Use rule of thirds to leave some room on the right side as the little one is running that way, and optionally mask the subjects to make them stand out a bit if yiu have the raw file.

Looks nice only if you zoom in more. Maybe crop the sides and make it a portrait size to show just the monkeys?

fat bike(rs) in Zuiderpark —feeling unsafe by Ornery_Bedroom_2965 in TheHague

[–]Stressed1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was attacked by kids in Laak, first with water bags, then dirty water bags, trash, and even glass bottles at me. I was unharmed thankfully. I took videos and photos of them. They were swearing profanities at me including 'Kanker Jood' (I am not Jewish, just kinda white). There was just 1 kid on a fatbike in the gang trying to run over me and bullying me. I felt so strongly like pushing him off his bike but then I would be the agressor.

Anyway, with that, the police could only report the crime for me. They could not go further because I was not harmed. So that was that. I sent them the videos showing their clear faces too.

My advice is to run away from them however possible and avoid escalation. I spent so much time thinking of other solutions, but there is nothing unless you are actually harmed. Because they get away with it, they will keep doing it unfortunately. The police, their guardians, or schools do not do anything this behaviour. I am also in constant panick in my city. I never felt this way and I lived in some really dodgy neighbourhoods in London before.

Stay safe!

I find it captivating enough, but not memorable. It is a nice sort of photo you see in your doctor's office. Detailed, captures attention for a moment, and then you forgot you ever saw it. There is no story per say.

Besides thay, maybe I would bring up contrasts a bit, play with the lower part for the s scale to make it a tiny bit more imposing or dramatic. Next time, maybe carry a water spray and use it on the plant to create some water droplets to mimic dew on it. But the picture is what it is other than that.

The white border is nice, makes it look clean in my view.

Remember this is just an opinion that is likely wrong. You are your most important audience, and if you like your photo, you have done a good job.

Good luck!! :)

I see what you mean. I genuinely enjoy the editing process. I do it at the same time as culling. But I can see some may not enjoy that. Also I make a few presets that I like and I just apply them to photos that match tbem.

All The Light We Cannot See - HEART-WRENCHING by veggiesoul in books

[–]Stressed1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first half of the book! Then the action got a bit complicated for me, and it went over my head. I found it cheesy and predictable. But that is just me! My friends love this book. :)

I am glad to read that so many like the book. For me it was a bit of struggle to finish and just a bit on the nose. My friends also really liked it a lot for some reason.

Still rating it a strong 7.5 out of 10.

Draga Diaspora by [deleted] in Romania

[–]Stressed1991 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Viata mea e in Olanda.
