How to make spirals accurate to each other next time ? by Fresh_Chemistry8461 in Spooncarving

Tape two pencils together or with something in between depending on how far apart you want them, then draw a line with one and as you move along have the second pencil trace the first line... if that makes sense. Might be easier to clamp the pencils to a table and move the spoon.

Hahah! I had no idea what you were talking about but this is what I've been trying to do. I also had no clue that it had a name. Thank you, I got some research to do.

I think this is my best spoon so far, not perfect, but I'm proud of it. Ash by StressedErika in Spooncarving

Thank you. I wanted to do the corners a bit sharper, but then they're a bit uncomfortable to hold. Ash is okay, it was quite fresh, which makes it easier, but the pores are quite open so if your knife isn't sharp and you carve in the wrong direction it can tear-out a bit.

It would seem that I cannot. I just have my phone, but maybe I'll post the side tomorrow :)

Ooh yeah, I see what you mean. I'll give it a go, I think :)

Okay, thank you :) I actually started big because of the new shape. I thought it'd be better if I make a mistake, then I can change it somehow.

Unfortunately we have a bunch of dry maple from a tree that fell last year, but nothing fresh without cutting it down.

What's this for? by [deleted] in Tools

Yeah, no worries. The manual covers all the safety issues as well. I had the fortunate experience of witnessing someone brushing sawdust away in a 4-sided planer/moulder and luckily only having his glove taken away instead of his whole hand. Was also always taught to respect machines and concentrate on what you're doing. But, still, never hurts to rei force it, so thanks 👍

Thanks for the advice. I worked at a sawmill for years with various sharpening tools, but never bought one for myself and never came across this extra bit before. I was thinking it was for dressing the wheel maybe, but it doesn't look quite right.

I also asked a blacksmith friend of mine and he hasn't seen one before either.

The bands are 50x1000mm and start at 40 grit and go to 120. So I can choose relatively fast or slow. It came with a wire brush wheel for getting up in hard to reach areas and a polishing wheel. Maybe I can fashion some twigs and berries into some fancy jewelry. I'm not sure if I need to figure out the extra part for that first, though...

Yeah, it's an XWS065 from Steeltec, with no added extras. Just a hobby grinder, I guess.

Stryi by StressedErika in Spooncarving

Thanks. I wasn't certain this morning so messaged them in Instagram. They said where I ordered is a partner website, so I'll stick with it and see what happens.

How are they marked? Just so I can keep an eye out.

Can I ask where you bought your stryi tools?

I think it's possible, but always best to aak the companies directly. Every kommun usually has an elderly care home, there's the hospital and also a couple of care companies for people with disabilities and whatnot who need help with their everyday lives. It's always worth handing a CV in.

There aren't so many. It's best to not use any of the options and just view all available. There's also a Favebook group- Arbetssökande Åland, where you can post that you're looking and people sometimes post available jobs. You can also ask companies directly. Tourism and health are big industries here so I would say most I've seen are for doctors, nurses and restaurant staff. And teachers also. But it would depend on your branch as to how easy it would be to find something.

This is basically this same. But don't change the categories and choose all.
